I was there too.

Aside from the classic games/cup wins, that is probably one of my very favourite Hibs games. Players played well, Lennon was (to me) a revelation and there was never a doubt in my mind that we'd not win. I loved every minute of it.

I remember Kenny Dalglish playing for Hibs in Sneddons Testimonial v Villa. Just hovered around the half way line and controlled everything. Think he set up all 4 goals. Best player on the park by miles, but then he was World Class I suppose so no shock.

Like all the Scottish grounds at the time it was a pissy old dump from a byegone age.
A mixture of sheds with tin roofs, a wooden stand and no cover at all at the away end.
Imagine the complaints on here if the fans under 40 had to go back to similar conditions.

Things I noticed from that:
Aberdeen had lots of good players Hibs did well to beat them that day.
Richardson was sent off for very little although remembering him his 2nd booking was probably for persistant fouling.
Willie Millar was a summariser and was already in the swing of criticising his old muckers.
We hadn't spent any money on infrastucture since the war.
Only 9,500 at the game.

Easter Road was dump back then, no question - but there could be a decent atmosphere when the team was playing well. Covered terracing lent itself to a good singing vibe and the atmosphere could arguably be better with a crowd of 8 or 9k than it is now with crowds double that size.

I think Danny Lennon may have played in that game too. Dalglish would still only have been around 40 though and still probably more than good enough to play in Scotland's top flight. IIRC Keith Wright scored all our goals that night.

Danny went on to have a decent career with Raith and Partick. I remember him scoring for Raith against Bayern Munich when they played in Europe (possibly at Easter Road now I come to think of it).

I was at the game too and while I don't recall us finishing the league strongly, Willie Miller was outstanding that day. Lennon was basically ***** in his time at Hibs and did much better work later in his career.

Lennon scored in Munich I think. Think Bayern won 2-0 at Easter road. I remember being star struck by Klinsmann and Papin.

I'd forgotten about that game! I remember Snelders booted the ball over the Cowshed roof when he got sent off. But Pat McGinlay then missed the penalty. Hit it straight at whoever the sheep put in goal. IIRC Aberdeen then missed a penalty too and Danny grabbed that late winner.

I'm pretty sure we were still third or fourth by the time of that win over Aberdeen but, as so often happens, we fell away badly in the closing weeks.
