I don’t think he’d be so quick to say it. They’re honking and he’s under massive pressure, this is his way of relaxing expectations. If he said he had a bigger budget than us then finished well below us again he’d be lynched, if he finishes above us and says he has a lower budget then he’ll think he’s a hero.

Hearts will have a much bigger budget than us, just last year their wages to turnover % was well above ours, along with around £3m more in turnover. I doubt that’ll have changed much this season, especially with signing Naismith again along with Walker and Washington, big name players will be on big wages.

Hearts clearly have the bigger budget. As has been said above, Levein is playing it down. He's doing his best to keep the fans onside and himself in a job. He's at it and the fans will fall for it as usual. Based on budget they've underachieved every year since Neilson was chased out.

True, and it is still unknown how much Ron has put in that's gone to the playing budget. Last set of accounts show staff costs at £7.2 to £5.3m in their favour. This will have changed obviously since both sets were released. But I can't see us making up a £1.9m shortfall in that time, given the signings both clubs have made.

I think this could be "Medals" using a deflection tactic due to him under pressure.

Yeah he won't know our budget and how much additional cash Ron may have upped it by, if any this season.

5th will be him covering his bases in case we finish above them. Again. Right now he will be trying to downplay their budget and save his skin.

Possibly, we don't know, just going off the staff costs also seem to be in proportion to turnover.
