The more English games I watch, the more infuriated I get by players writhing around after a nothing tackle, only to get straight back up once they’ve got the decision.

My word for that is cheating.

watched a player in a game a few weeks ago, a midfielder, who picked up the ball wide at the corner of his own box. Opposition player challenged him as he tried to kick the ball away. It’s clear there’s no foul, but the midfielder immediately starts limping and hirpling, half drops to the ground grimacing, looking to the ref for a foul.

the ref immediately waves it away, and the player starts sprinting hard to get up the pitch, no limp or injury at all.

    its blatant cheating

Agree the amount of diving and play acting is ridiculous and refs seem unwilling to punish it for some reason.

    There were at least 3 or 4 instances of Man Utd players going down softly in the box looking for pens. And I’ve seen the same each time Ive watched them over the last few weeks. Brutal and I can see why they get so many pens but there is a problem IMO with the way the laws are being applied around VAR;

If the referee DOES award the pen himself, VAR will back him up and award on the basis of any contact whatsoever. So pretty much any contact whatsoever, however minimal or soft, will still be awarded.

If the referee DOES NOT award the pen, VAR will consider if there is enough contact to award - is it a clear and obvious error. Ie there can be some, but there has to be enough.

Feels to me referees are pointing to the spot far more frequently and you are far more likely to get the pen once the referee has already awarded it than if not. I’d be interested to see the stats on how the number of pens awarded under VAR in the premier league compares with previous seasons to back that up.

their penalty today was as clear a foul as you’ll ever see

That and the VAR are the bane of the current sport of football.
Tiny Wharton wouldn't have put up with it.

    Brentford 1 Swansea 0(1-1) 10 mins played

    2-0 after 15 mins

    easy money :)

Fulham play cardiff tomorrow night 2-0 up from the first leg, looking very much like an all-london final

Ibrahimovic becomes the first player to score 50 league goals for both Milan and Inter. 2 tonight at 38 years of age, unbelievable player really. Think Messi and Ronaldo have overshadowed what a player he is. Over 200 goals since hitting 30.

His knuckles would still have been in reach of John Greigs regardless.

And good for them. A nice club with great fans and a grand old stadium they’re leaving.

Delighted to see Brentford get to the play off final. What a shame their fans couldn’t have been there to say goodbye to Griffin Park in style.

Incredible record for scoring goals and collecting trophies at every club he has been at. Talks the talks but has the stats to back it all up,, fantastic career.

They’re not very good at play-off finals though. Would love to see them do it this time.

Fulham v Brentford could be a cracker, two good footballing teams and both with a bit of a soft underbelly. Such a pity it will be played with no fans, it would would have been a great occasion. Still should be a good match with a few goals in it.

And just to add a fond farewell to Griffin Park, a cracking day out, infamous for having a pub on each corner of the ground, naturally an away fans favourite. Fond memories.

Maybe but very different positions. Maguire is the best central defender for a team that finished 3rd. He really isn't that bad.
Played every minute for utd in the league. First player since pallister to do it I think for utd.

Made mistakes but he's an improvement on what they had. They paid £80m cos he's English and they're Manchester United.

I saw grealish at old Trafford earlier in the season. He scored a good goal. He looked good for 40 mins or so they faded. He's good, not great and I wouldn't be spending 80mill on him when that money could be better spent.
