watching swansea score with a penalty at forest, the penalty taker starts his run then stops just a few feet from the ball, the keeper is already starting to dive then the taker starts his run again placing the ball the oppossite direction, i thought they had stopped this patter
At least Scottish refs have seem not to be so strict on the ridiculous 'one foot on the line at pens' rule. I did see it imposed recently in a La Liga, its just a lottery for keepers these days.

You are allowed to stop in your run up to the ball but you can't fake the striking of the ball.

ok ta, i don't think that rule is fair on keepers

agree, it is a stupid rule

    Full time 2-1 Arsenal.

Tell you what, Liverpool better hope nothing happens to make Anfield unplayable next season and forces them to play their home games elsewhere or they might be struggling to make the top half.

One win in their last seven away games in all competitions. 😬

  8. #14077
It’s only fair to applaud Arsenals defensive effort tonight. They had to sacrifice everything in their instincts to stick to Artetas game plan there. Not often you see Arsenal have the discipline to accept the other team will have 75 percent of the ball and about 100 shots on goal but you can still win the game.

if that was Wenger in the latter years the possession would be more 50-50 and Liverpool would have won that 6-2.

Yeah terrible away record in the league but better than everyone else by a mile away from home. Still straw clutching I see, don’t forget to watch the Chelsea game when regardless of the result Liverpool will receive the trophy.😁

I'm looking forward to it pal, will this be the first title Liverpool have won since colour TV was invented? 😂

I still fancy Man City to win the league again next season. Liverpool have to many players playing at their absolute maximum to win it again imo.

What a team they’ve been this season, though.

Yep they've deserved it this season no doubt. I also reckon Manchester City will win it next season, with Liverpool and (maybe if they can sign 3 or 4 new players) Manchester Utd not far behind.

Came across this stat, quite remarkable.

Games it took to score 200 club goals:

    Harry Kane: 350
    Cristiano Ronaldo: 379
    Sergio Aguero: 396
    Thierry Henry: 439
    Wayne Rooney: 449

aye but those guys probably won a trophy or 10. Kane has less than Chris Dagnall.

Kane’s is a better achievement for scoring goals in a lesser team. Imagine if he had the teams around him the others had.

No doubt but some of guys started as wingers or weren't always the main striker. They were also competing against better players for a spot.

Kane is a wonderful player, no doubt. Amazing player. Don't think he is better than anyone on that list though. He really needs to go to a big club soon. He is a champions league winning player playing in a side who have won less than Hibs in the last 25 years.

He no doubt should move on to a team more likely to win trophies for his own personal ambitions. But as Scouse mentioned, the fact he has managed that record for a team who win nothing is great going. If he played for Man City he would break Shearer's record.

Shearer didn't exactly play for a good side either. One league winning season in his career. Why isn't he on that list btw? Assume his is better? If he had played for United or Arsenal or not had 3/4 seasons out with injury he'd have set an ever better record in fairness.

That was just the stat I came across, no idea how many games it took Shearer. But yeah you would expect him to have scored more in better teams. Surprised he never really kicked on for England, Kane will end up taking Rooney's record too imo.

Editt: quick browse through transfermarkt.co.uk suggests that Shearer did it in 330-335 games.

I don't know if it's the case here, but these kind of stats often only consider the Premier League era, so Shearer might have been ruled out because he started before that.

Because of course football was invented by Sky in 1992.

Transfermarkt has Shearer down as playing 23 games for Southampton in the old First Division as well as 2 FA Cup games before joining Blackburn when the Premier League was introduced.

Think they've mixed up their numbers – Wiki has 23 goals in 118 games for Southampton.

Yeah someone's got it mixed up somewhere. Transfermarkt says Shearer only scored 8 goals in 20 First Division games for Southampton. Maybe someone on here knows if he played more games than that for Southampton.

Kane has the advantage of effectively having the team built around him and playing to his strengths. A number of others mentioned work in some sort of rotation. Aguero had to compete with a Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli, and Edin Dzeko in his early years at Manchester City.

However, it is a great achievement by Kane to score so many goals in an often faltering Spurs team.

Darnell Johnson on the bench for Leicester tonight
Was his only 1st team appearance at Hibs, his retro sending off at Parkhead
