Going to out myself as a bit of a weeb here, but the first opening theme to the first season of Attack on Titan is outstanding

    Listening/Watching always got me pumped

I've never even heard of the programme or heard the theme before, but that piece of music is an absolute masterpiece.

It is years, possibly decades, since I last heard a song for the first time and enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed that.

The series was superb. I stumbled across it (and the theme) on a free VOD channel on my internet/TV box.

    Well worth a watch.

Haven’t seen them mentioned but two of the most iconic TV theme tunes that don’t need a YouTube clip to remind you how they go are surely:
    Z-Cars and
    Match Of The Day.

A clip might help. We're not all on our pensions...

How do we have 2 pages and not even a sniff of a mention of The X Files.

    Utterly classic theme tune!

As a ninties baby the Remembrandts friends opening theme is well up there! The song is actually really good.

For some reason, all week I've been singing the Birds of a Feather theme tune, nice wee melody.

  16. #45
It's been rehashed a few times, but the original top gear theme is still the best IMO:

And one for the Old Greys:

Hopefully, you are taking the piss. It is an awful song and blender magazine probably had it right when they named it as one of the top 50 worst ever written.

It is an instantly recognisable 90s theme tune though. That is for sure.

It was written specifically as the theme for Friends (and you can't fault it in that respect). Due to public interest and demand they reworked it to release as a single.

You can’t beat music journos when it comes to snobbery.
It certainly isn’t the greatest song in the world but it does give a certain feel good factor when you hear it. Try having a wee boogie round the living room next time you hear it.
    Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
    He'll die before he's sold.

I've heard it plenty! I can't take the lyrics seriously, the tone of the song, or the happy clapping punctuated throughout the song. It, for me, is a brutal piece of music.

I realise the thread is subjective though and if it brings joy to someone then fair enough.

How could I forget the theme to This Week - from Sibelius's Karelia Suite and already mentioned on the (sadly neglected) Classical Music Thread.

I'm with you, it's a terrible song and the fact it has a part which encourages terrible crowd participation (clap clap clap clap) only makes me dislike it more.

The video was the worst bit, with the band and the cast. It took twee to whole different dimension

A song of hope and progressiveness through the medium of US TV sitcom, or so it felt

Hill Street Blues fits the bill for best intro

The tv series that made Homicide, The Wire,NYPD Blue and every other police procedural that came after them work
Brilliant (Mile Post is the composer I believe)

There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.
