    Hibs Shareholders Association

    Whatever happened to this?

Is it still on the go, and if so - what does it do?
Anyone know where I can find out more about it in its present form?

    If it has one!

I don't believe so - there were application forms getting handed out a year or so ago.

There was an attempt to revive the Shareholders Association around the time of the launch of HSL and the 2 share issues.

For various reasons it never really took off and I believe it was wound up. Personally as the ownership of Hibs diversified I think a group working on behalf of shareholders, and potentially pooling the votes of small holdings, is a good idea.

There are a couple of posters on here who were involved in the discussions and attempt I mentioned above so maybe they will confirm what the current state of play is.

I was vice chairman for a while.

The two main people were Brian monteith and Rod cranston(rip).

    Are you thinking of hsl?

They handed out forms a few years ago, think Rod was involved with the attempt at getting it up and running again which gives you an idea of how far back we're going. Eric Annal was involved this time too.

These two, Pathead and myself tried to get it up and running again - indeed the 4 of us paid a tenner membership to cover costs incurred!!!

Early indications showed there was a modest interest in getting it up and running.

The old bank account with virtually nothing in it was tracked down, the constitution brought up-to-date. The club even offered some facilities.

Alas having done all that over a period of months once we started to 'get serious' the number of shareholders interested had fallen away.

Personally I think most people were more than happy with the way the club was being run and saw no point in the Association at that time.
    Space to let

Basically we got to the stage of having 25 Members from a total of about 2400 Shareholders. With only 1% we couldn't claim to be representative of Shareholders at AGMs and decided to call it a day. Members were offered a return of their annual £10 payment or to make a payment to Kicks For Kids through Leith Links with almost all choosing the latter.

    Thanks for the responses.

I was just tidying up a bit of paperwork and came across an application to join............ wondered if I still could, but obviously not!

First I've heard of it and I've been a small shareholder for thirty odd years.

I'm similar but was definitely aware of the association down the years. Neither for or against it at the moment

Reminds me of all the groups that I've signed up to over that years that have fallen by the wayside: Club 86, HYMS(?) which was some sort of youth fundraiser and Erin Hibs. Plus the one-off payment to Hibs 100 that got my name on the board in the North Stand. Hopefully HSL will have more longevity

I definitely picked up a form for it a couple of AGM's back always meaning to send it away, stuck it on the back burner and kept on forgetting.

Exactly what happened in my case, and prompted my question.
