I hear she's away to play a gender equality celebrity deathmatch against Gala Fairydean or Artful Mysogyny FC or someone like that instead.

Yes, it was. They were terrible and well out of their depth, but they were the exception. I thought the standard overall was good.

In all seriousness, they won't be short of sponsors chucking money at them for many years to come.

Anyone who laughs at female goalkeepers should have to watch the highlights of the Dutch goalkeeper.

There was only one team that ever looked like scoring, and she was the reason they only managed one from open play.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

The Chilean goalkeeper is fantastic too, and the Swedish keeper is also very good.

Superb. The women's game has taken off in a big way in recent years and is sure to keep growing.

Well deserved too; USA have been much the better team. Only England managed to give them a game.

The Women's World Cup has been an absolute delight, a wonderful spectacle, with some breath taking football, sublime individual skills and truly world class goals.

The USA fully deserve to be Champions. They have strength and quality in depth.

This tournament certainly opened my eyes to what the women's game has to offer, and I'm sure that it will now go from strength to strength all around the planet.

This World Cup, the quality of football, the attendances and the coverage have probably struck as big a blow for women's rights and equality globally as any thing else I can remember in a very long time with the possible exception of the #metoo coverage. And its been good to watch.

Quite enjoyed it except for the lack of bad tackles, foul language, sectarian singing, red cards and fans invading the pitch at the final whistle.

I think Keith is referring to the amount of BS that was shoved down our throat

Here’s their training camp, press conference, talking head interviews, nonsense barely related articles about celebrities wishing the lionesses (laughable nickname btw) well etc

All that has dropped off the face of the earth when they finally came up against a better team and lost

To be listening to English football fans and pundits talking about the Womens World Cup matches and accuse the Americans of being cocky and arrogant.

I nearly fell off my seat. Pot and kettle or what?

And the moaning about the Alex Morgan tea drinking celebration! No worse or cringeworthy than the White Goggles Celebration or Parris You can’t see me celebrating. But when it’s for England it’s all great passion so that’s fine

After all the crap last summer of “it’s coming home” I thought we’d get a break this year. Glad it ended the same way
In the build-up to the USA game Jonathon Pearce was 'working' himself into a frenzy over the prospect of them winning - just casually claiming that England had the best left-back in the world was the start of it all !. No sooner have we got rid of Motson and now they find his love-child - Aaaargh !!

He's English. England were playing a semi final.

Lucy Bronze is a right back. she just won the champions league for the second year with Lyon and is a star in their team. she also just won the second best player at the world cup, the top ranked right back.

she is the best right back in the world. so arse or not, he was correct.

what i would say - Neville made comments after the group stage saying VAR was excellent and that the standard of refereeing was good and that there had been no bad decisions. at the time I though "what an arse". it was basically a big up you to Scotland.

since then he's cried about Cameroon, spat the dummy with USA and then his comments pre 3rd place game about his bronze medal looking gold in certain light were crass. then when they lost he pretended he didn't care. He's shown himself up as the clown he is.

the facts are that they finished 4th which is worse than last time round. they are much better than they showed, arguably in any game and it was always coming down to if they could pip the USA or not. Neville failed to get the best out a very talented squad and his tinkering and failure to utilise very good players like Georgia stanway and Leah Williamson instead preferring his misfiring favourites left England lacking.

despite his bluster he's shown himself up as a failure.

    Edit:

    As a player 6 x EPL 3 x FA Cups 1 x CL

    Maybe as a Manager?

They're a good side, he's a decent manager. They could be better, so could he.

Fair play to them they had a good tournament. It's just petty to try and pick holes in England's World Cup experience this summer whether as players, commentators or their crowds at home. We come across as chippy and bitter when we do that in the men's and women's football.
