The ABE thing is a lot more tame than it was when i was growing up in the 90's. Just shows how far we've fallen that it's not as big a rivalry as it once was. I've seen plenty Scottish people wearing England tops and supporting them during recent tournaments. Unsurprising with us not having qualified for anything since 1998 and the EPL rammed dowm our throats constantly. Same goes for club football. When i was at school you rarely saw an English club side top but now you rarely see a Scottish one being worn by youngsters. I remember mass celebrating when Southgate missed that penalty in Euro 96. It's definitely changed since.
When I was young I remember seeing a lot of Liverpool tops. Probably because the team was full of Scots.

The most common tops here were Hibs,Hearts and the now defunct old firm. I know a lot of Celtic supporters who do not buy their children tops due to the animosity they attract from bigots. Sevco support are boycotting Mike Ashley so not many tops to be seen. I suspect a lot of parents will be like the Celtic families I know.

What you do see now is a lot of foreign tops. Didn't get that back in the day.

Won as many major trophies as England have in the past 50 years or are we counting semi finals now?

I’m starting to enjoy the inevitable scramble of accusing Scotland supporters of anglophobia after they lose.

    England must hate VAR

Best part is they can't complain because they pushed for this for years.

Wilson pushed a player over in the box and ended up scoring after Alli hit the bar. Ref went over to review it and correctly ruled it out

England bottled it when it really mattered. As always.

That penalty shoot out seemed to take ages

    Some good spot kicks though

And could the Swiss not find a smaller keeper?

Not sure where you get bottled it from, they never bottled anything. They were however well beaten by a far superior side, happens to Scotland often so you should be familiar with the concept.

I'll have you know we can lose to teams much worse than us too. Superiority is not a requirement.

As all teams can, sometimes it acts as a wake up call when things appear to be going so well, which isn’t a bad thing either.

Wouldn't say this Dutch team are much better than England. I think England have a better squad and should have won the match.

Lapses of concentration late in the game cost them - if it's not bottling it, then what is it?

They were drawing 1-1 going into extra time when two cases of kamikaze defending lead to them conceding two very preventable goals.

    I'd say they bottled it.

eh the dutch team i watched on thursday were MUCH better than their opponents, the match stats back my thoughts up

    possession

    53% v 47%

    shots

    29 v 13

    shots on target

    14 v 3

    and from the EBC

The Dutch were the far superior side but they were gifted their route to the showdown against Portugal on Sunday by suicidal defending in extra time by England, who were hoping to go one better than their World Cup semi-final exit against Croatia last summer.

i don't understand why your saying otherwise

I do, because it’s much better just to state that England bottled it.👍

Don't know what's so difficult. Dutch side on paper are pretty mediocre for a Dutch team. They beat (and outplayed) England on the big occasion...the England team didn't turn up and bottled it.

Portugal are good. Ronaldo and B Silva in one team can't be bad.
