    Prize money

We get £1.7 less than 1st but only gain £500k more than bottom? That doesn’t seem very fair.

They should reduce the top prize to £3m and 2nd to £2.3M. Then feed the reclaimed £450k into the remuneration for the bottom 9 teams in the league at £50,000k.
each. We know the top 2 teams have access to way more money than the rest. Even an extra £50k given to the other teams will have a small positive effect on the league. The big losers Celtic would understand. It's what Brother Walfrid would have wanted. £350k for them this season was just Scott Allan doing nothing for a year. They didn't feel it.

The top prize should be meaningful, and runner up is an achievement. The rest are also rans. We get the scraps. Its sport and that's how it should be. Unless you want a communist type competition where every competitor gets the same prize money.

It's based largely on TV money which is a deal for all clubs. They have to strike a balance, it also gives clubs something play for if relegation/Europe is not a factor

Not tried to work it out, but if the total prize pot is divided total points the prize would be a reflection on how well you did.

Would never ever happen but a cool system would be to assign a monetary value to each point won!

The Rangers haven't finished 2nd since being demoted for cheating. Until this year.

    Neither were Rangers.

Should only be a 50% difference at most between first and last IMO.

You mean like the NFL where they share everything and have the most successful franchise in the world

A slight tangent here perhaps but have you ever tried, like really tried to actually WATCH NFL though?

Give me Morecambe vs Charlton in an FA Cup replay on the telly any day. I'd even stretch to say I'd rather be a Hearts ST holder than have NFL be my main source of sporting delight.

Thats just personal preference though surely? It can still be successful even if people don't like it

I know. Like I say a bit of a tangent. It's a hugely successful sport, but dire to watch IMO. Anyway, once someone can explain to me how the devil a draft system works and how Jim White can get involved twice a season on SSN, I might be a bit more amenable to the idea

If you get in to it, it is a fantastic game. I would recommend recording or pausing it on tv to FF through the adverts and breaks in play. I am not sure how it works at the actual game but lager and cheer leaders probably help

I saw the Miami Dolphins play the New England Patriots 18 months ago. It was a brilliant experience from start to finish.

Great food, plenty beer and a great game.

I'd definitely go back and I'd watch more of it on TV if it was on at a better time.

Surely the prize is winning the league and being crowned champions?

And no-one is suggesting that every team gets the same prize money, just that the differences are less extreme between places.

Ah, but the issue with the current Capitalist model is that it gives those at the very top a financial advantage, which helps them to maintain that status. By maintaining that status, it allows them to amass greater wealth and power over the rest. Wealth and power they can use to implement their own regime on the league.

Better than the previous disribution which was pertty much:
    1st: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
    2nd: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
3rd-12th: Prize money? Whit. Okay. Here's a couple pennies from Doncaster's change box.

They changed it once Rangers left the SPL and were no longer guaranteed 2nd. Wonder why?

Premier league payments, and wonder how we compete

    1 £38.4m
    2 £36.5m
    3 £34.6m
    4 £32.6m
    5 £30.7m
    6 £28.8m
    7 £26.9m
    8 £25m
    9 £23.1m
    10 £21.1m
    11 £19.2m
    12 £17.3m
    13 £15.4m
    14 £13.4m
    15 £11.5m
    16 £9.6m
    17 £7.7m
    18 £5.8m
    19 £3.8m
    20 £1.9m

Seemingly West Ham can earn another £8M on Sunday day, dependent on where they finish
