Very sad to hear this, I remember the first time I met Alastair on our bus to Sochaux back in 1976. As the poster said, a very knowledgeable bloke!! Doesn't seem that long since I last spoke to him at ER mind!

I remember meeting up with Alastair and the Glasgow HSA beforethe ’73 final
I’d come up from London ,he’d organised tickets for the North Stand at Hampden
When the final whistle he produced a bottle of bubbly and wetoasted the Tornados
We bunked a lift on a supporters bus back to Edinburgh and heslipped getting off on Princess Street
He said he couldn’t walk so with his blessing we propped himup in a shop doorway and headed to Rose Street to carry on celebrating
When we came back he’d gone so we jumped last train back toGlasgow
When I spoke to him by phone on the Monday he’d broken hisankle and ended up in hospital
A day he would never forget
