Sadly Stevie Chalmers had suffered from Dementia for a number of years, and as a result was unable to attend the Lisbon Lions 50th anniversary celebrations two years ago. A dreadful illness, but his memory will live on in Scottish Footballing history, the likes of which we’re unlikely to ever see again.

I think the undernoted tweet really sums up Stevie Chalmers' off-field persona for me. It pleases me to see guys like Stevenson, McNulty and Kamberi interacting with supporters in times of need or grief in a similar manner.

RIP a sad loss, as will any one of Celtic's 67 cup winning side be. If for no other reason than what that team did is unlikely ever to be replicated by another Scottish club … In fact I would go so far as to say that a Scottish club winning the Europa league these days would be a comparable achievement.

I mean no disrespect to Stevie Chalmers or his memory when I say this. To have a minutes applause at every ground for Billy McNeil was entirely appropriate, he was the captain of that famous side. But I for one will not be supportive of doing the same for Stevie, public tributes to him and any remaining Lisbon lions on their passing should entirely be a matter for and within Celtic football club and its supporters.

Because at that time Scotland had loads of good players in his position such as Denis Law European player of the year, Alan Gilzean, Colin Stein etc

That story is just class. Social media gets rightly criticised but can also be a power for good as that story proves. RIP Stevie.

Bit of a worry when players I remember watching are dropping off the perch!

Stevie Chalmers was a good player in a wonderful Celtic team.

Guys like Chalmers and Lennox would fit right into a modern one-touch team. Quick and skilful.
