I mean, the same could've been said for Allan at one point. He was certainly going it in his last spell. Players develope under different managers and systems.
Allan puts a shift in though. The implication was that Newell does not. I’m really looking forward to seeing both anyway.

One will replace the other by the looks of it

In his first spell Allan was a bit of a lazy ****er. Other 3 in midfield done a lot of running for him.

Turnbull has it all to prove for me. Very good half a season - goalscoring anyway. Be interesting to see how he develops.
Never watched Motherwell and thought who is this boy running the show that looked a 3 million pound player. Though I did find myself thinking is that Turnbull scored again! Maybe will be a superstar just think he is being judged a hell of an early. Personally thought Hastie looked the better of the 2. Time will tell all.
30 games in the league is not half a season.

True. But I never said he played half a season, he was very good for half a season. Motherwell weren't good for 30 games, neither was Turnbull

Lazy? Fair enough. I'd disagree slightly though.

Intrigued by the Newell signing - although the opinions of the Rotherham fans that I’d read were very positive, it was mentioned more than once that defending is completely alien to him. I didn’t think that Heckingbottom would make allowances for such a player.

Yet I’m sure I read PH say that he’d seen him play at wingback before, which is a position that is 50% defending. I know he’ll obviously look to develop him further, but surely he can’t be as lazy as has been suggested?
I’d argue that full back let alone wing back is 50% defending nowadays unfortunately

There was talk of us having put in a bid of over £1m I’m sure. As people pointed out though we were never going to pay the wages that go with it. Seemed more like posturing and an attempt to make it look like we were going to reinvest more into the playing side than we did (not that there was anything wrong with spending the money the way that we did btw).
Hibs put in a million pound bid for a player, and it was just 'posturing'...………….

Not suggesting we offer £3m and £20k a week.

However you can load a deal in such a way that Motherwell get massive sell ons and the player pretty much gets guaranteed first team football, a decent wage increase and a potential big move in the future.

If the player is genuine about not going to Celtic for football reasons and has a good head on his shoulders it might be a wise move. If he only wants money he will head South for the biggest offer. We aren’t talking about a 30 year old Champions league winner we are talking about a young lad who had a decent first season at bottom six Motherwell.

Worth asking. If we don’t Aberdeen or Hearts might.
Your dreaming mate...neither us Aberdeen or Them have any chance

Looks like we aren't in for the MK boy.
    Oh well, we move on.

Good signing for the Sheepies I'd say.

Not massively bothered about this. I think he's the kind of player who suits an Aberdeen or hearts rather than us

Aberdeen's summer signings have been garbage. Happy with this

Watched Bryson a couple of times when we were allegedly interested.
Wasn't impressed so not worried that he has gone to the sheep.

He’s coming off a bad injury aswell im sure. We could definitely do with a player similar to him in midfield though.

Good signing for Aberdeen, no two ways about it .

However I’m not overly fussed about not getting him ( if we were in for him) , always think younger players on the up play better for us than signing older players.

Unsure of his fitness but can see Heckingbottom wanting real legs in his midfield.

  22. #2571
Interesting to read Paddy McCourt saying he was very close to joining us in 2013 after training with us for a couple of weeks.

Watched him last season playing against a young Leeds winger, who gave him a very torrid afternoon, ran past him as if he wasn't there.

Hasn't he been linked with us every window since he was born?

Bryson will be decent, but really only like for like for Shinnie. Looks like a downgrade actually if you think that Derby have taken Shinnie and sheep have Bryson in return. Clearly Derby think Shinnie is better

Pretty sure Derby offered him a new deal.

    Not similar players either imo.

Need a new rumour. The only live one at the moment is Gravenberch..

The rest have all signed for other clubs or been ruled out.
