A cynic might suggest that Motherwell published Celtics accepted bid online and through the press in an attempt to force the move through asap knowing there was an underlying issue medically. Say that I hope the boy comes back, is amazing and then tells Celtic to ram it for not taking the chance like Hartson done.

Think that'll be a decent signing. Played at a good level anyway.

Washington and Halkett are both good signings. If they get and can keep Naismith injury free then that'll be another one.

Luckily we've made some really good signings already too. Should be an exciting season ahead that's for sure.

Never heard of him, to be honest. Is he decent or another one of their signings that's going to do this, that and the next thing but actually end up doing sod-all (other than an odd goal against us, probably).

That’s a good signing to be fair helps when you’ve got a coach who is close to Michael O’Neill and the Northern Ireland set up

So we’re just signing NO-ONE today?!

I don’t like this one bit!

Proven striker at Division 1 level where he did very well for Peterboro, scoring lots of goals.
However, on earning his move to the Championship at QPR he flopped scoring very few and was allowed to leave a year early, which he spent at Sheff Utd.
He played 429 minutes in their promotion season without scoring and they have not taken him to the Premiership with them, hence he has rocked up at Hearts to join his international coach McPhee. The above would suggest he is a bottom of the Championship/top of Division 1 striker and will be quality.

He arrives on a free transfer but given his signing on fee and wages I suspect the £250,000 fee we paid for Droidge will be gobbled up by Washington by the end of this season. I think he will look a better player than Droidge but won't score as many goals.
Droidge will be a slow burn and in 2 years time will still be going quietly about his business, scoring 15 goals a season whilst Washington will be gone chasing the money again.

Both Edinburgh teams have been bringing in decent players this summer. Both will be improved next season. Hearts had a lack of quality in their team last season and we had a lack of balance. Both managers have sought to address these issues. Naismith and possibly an experienced midfielder still to sign for them and we will be signing another few players including a good quality robust defensive midfielder. Based on last years signings we should still have another £250k to spend on the right player.

Scottish teams are after many years recovering from the TV deal **** up by the football authorities and our game is beginning to thrive again.
Can't wait for this season to start.

I see Tam McManus tweeted yesterday that the Turnbull to Celtic deal would 100% still go through, despite chat of their being a hitch.

Tam was a cracking player for us, he's a good pundit and seems like a class guy. But he's getting a bit of a reputation for posting nonsense on twitter.

We’ve got someone on here who likes to think of himself as in the know but when it comes down to it knows absolutely hee haw, more so when questioned. It’s actually quite amusing.

You can’t criticise the guy for trying to build up an image of somebody who has a finger on the pulse, but bottom line is he spouts nonsense and wings it just like a lot of folk who don’t really have a clue.

I find it amusing that someone would describe Tam as either a cracking player or a good pundit. And you have the cheek to call HIM out for posting nonsense!

Yes, given the laughable huddie strikers they’ve signed in recent years, looks like they’ve snatched a good deal there. International striker who has actually scored competitive goals at that level. Time will tell of course...

    And no fee involved.?

We’d surely be delighted with that.

Looking at his stats on wiki and it doesn’t look like he scores many goals at all?

Jeezo what a shame for the lad
He’s also very lucky. He gets to have preventative surgery now rather than suffer the inevitable injury and full rebuild that may have been required. It’s possible that medical saved his career.

    Spot on!

I was about to post the same but you beat me to it

Connor Washington looks a good signing on paper but is hardly prolific

He looks a typical Hearts striker big and strong likes the ball to feet but will struggle to get that with the Hearts version of hoofball

His YouTube Vid looks good but so did Big Daves ?😀

Christian Doidge has played less games than Washington and has scored twice as many goals in the English top leagues 177:70 versus 228:35

You are correct that with improvement Doidge could be the better of the two but Washington will have to up his game as well

Neither player set the heather on fire at Bolton and QPR respectively

As you quite rightly said exciting times ahead

    Bring it on!
