I think people have suggested not to believe everything you read as it's primarily speculation designed to sell papers/attract page views.

I’d feel bound by no such restriction.

Even a broken clock is right once every 12 hours.. so from that perspective you should rely on it to tell the time any time you look at it and using that analogy the press to be consistently reliable and truthfull
