    That footage from 1952 shows how "soft" football, the authorities and health and safety has become.

    That pitch was treacherous, but they played the game regardless.

    It was a lottery, but that made it all the more ridiculously thrilling

    The surrounding streets would have also been treacherous, but the crowds turned up regardless - though I guess we'll never know how many took a tumble on the way and ended up in casualty.

    Simply heading a ball in those days all but guaranteed concussion.

    The ball was built like a cannonball and weighed a ton.

    Changed times indeed.

    Look at the crowd, where were the rest of those “fuds” for the return fixture on Saturday just passed?
