It's also a money and facilities and talent issue.
In huge swathes of Southern France rugby is the #1 sport. Great public facilities everywhere. And Scotland have a tiny pool of players.
that doesn't mean we can't be well drilled and fundamentally hard to beat at 15v15 though.

The other issues are issues we deal with in every sport, particularly football and rugby. being small isn't an excuse but it doesn't seem to impact the Welsh or Irish all that much.

Rugby is a religion in Wales, we will never compete with that level of obsession in schools etc. Ireland has done really well. England has the infrastructure and the cash and the best players. I just think we'll always struggle to be more than 'that team that Italy have a chance against'.

I disappeared for a kick about that second half but from what I've seen 15-3 flatters us a bit.

Joke of a performance. We're making basic errors everytime we get into the French 22.

we play like the italians when they first started in the 6 nations, for years now we've only been able to dream of churning out players like the welsh and irish, and thank goodness we do have the italians for our regular 5th/wooden spoon position, infact i think we should invite the Georgians for a 7 nations championship

    another french try

scottish try between the posts, how on earth did that happen

adam hastings not aware of where the touchline is

Impressive energy in these final moments. We're not shy of stamina, certainly.

Disappointing from Scotland, it's been an all too familiar 6 Nations so far.

Ireland at home are a different gravy as well, look how that one turned out, believe me i do enjoy a welsh victory over england(heck i enjoy any teams victories over england tbf ) i still think they will win in cardiff, their remaining two fixtures are gimmies

anyway, i see Hum Jones is now almost certainly out for the remainder, joining Stuart Hogg who is most likely out as well
    Aye

Wales playing at home was the game changer today. Was always going to end in Welsh victory.

Agree, they are joyous. But to compare that to our 2016, you heathen 😁

    Italy
    France
    South Africa
    Argentina
    Argentina
    Scotland
    Australia
    Tonga
    South Africa
    France
Wales now onto 12 consecutive test victories. A national record. Credit to Gatland and his team, fantastic coach.

i can't really comment on Huw as i've not watched a glasgow game on TV for about two years now, i'l take your word for it :)

look, that's simply not going to happen, trust me but good luck against england though :)
How about now? Think we've got a massive chance now.

That was one poor performance from Scotland yesterday, so many basic errors it was ridiculous.

Spot on mate. Totally different up here, when I was in School back home there was no sign of a football during games lessons. Rugby is ingrained in the culture of Wales and in many cases it's what brings communities together in the valleys.

What are peoples thoughts on Townsend?

My rugby knowledge is bag of a fag packet stuff but I was out for lunch through work with a very well known ex internationalist who played with GT during the week and he was scathing. Don't get me wrong I'm sure there was a personal side to it but he said Townsend was 'arrogant, pig headed and idealistic' and he would be 'found out soon enough'. He also said the relative success he had enjoyed up to now was as a result of Vern Cotters hard work and the team would be doing better now had they stuck with Cotter. He was convinced the SRU only appointed him in a panic because of his threats to walk away from the Glasgow set up and Scottish rugby altogether.

I'd be surprised if this was the case. I don't know Gregor but I do know his Dad and brother and they are both very down to earth guys. Injuries have decimated the squad and hopefully we'll be seeing a different Scotland team in the World cup. Once there is a fully fit squad then we'll see how good Gregor is.

I had £50 on Wales to win by more than 4 points at Evens. No problem. One game away from winning the grand slam at home against Ireland. I told you so.

Utterly not good enough. Not clinical enough, no penetration, more stupid penalties at crucial times and handling errors aplenty.

Welsh fans added a good atmosphere today (and the town was excellent fun afterwards) but I can't say I enjoyed the game - we just always felt out of it.

England will utterly hammer us next weekend too if they play anywhere near the level they did today.
