Well said. For far too long Celtic have been signing Scottish players on the cheap due to who they are. They could have signed SJM weeks ago if they didn't fiddle around with the small change.

I have mates who are Celtic fans , or at least purport to be but I did say to them weeks ago that they did not realise how good SJM was, and how much Hibernian are likely to get offered for him. some kinda shrugged, saying things like "ah bit, he's got Celtic family connections , want's to be at Celtic Park etc etc. when I am asked at the weekend what I am laughing about my reply will be, Naw it's just a silly grin.

If reports are true, and Celtic only upped offer to match aston villas, it shows how they tried to get him on the cheap with their derisory offers.
To see them scrabbling to match the offer at the last minute tells me they thought we would roll over and get tummies tickled.
They probably could have had him 2 weeks ago if they weren't so arrogant.
That said, this has worked out brilliantly for John and Hibs, he gets to play in higher profile league and earn a great wage, Hibs get a good bonus if Villa get promoted.

Celtic are fools, absolute mugs. Been along time since I've seen a transfer of a key target messed up as badly as this. At the very least their humming and hawing must have put a huge question mark in SJM's mind about how much they really wanted him. At Hibs, SJM was loved and revered. Looks like Villa made him feel the same way and he's chosen to go there ahead of his "boyhood heros".

After May 2016 and now the SJM saga, Hibs have embarrassed and pissed off both sides of the Glasgow media and the football authorities. Prepared for the backlash - increased dodgy ref decisions, stories about Lennon leaving, and anything else that can make up to undermine our progress.
