Sad to see him go but goes with my best wishes, he’s been absolutely superb throughout his time at the club and deserves his chance at a higher level. Whatever he does in the future, among the great performances he’s put in I will always remember him being a part of that cup winning side.
all the best a John.

A guy that really got the club and that spread to other players too, and he's one of the main reasons we've been so galvanised these last couple of years, in my book.
Good luck John, the epitome of "Hibs class".

Who's in charge of the photos on these announcements? WTF is that?
Goodbye and good luck, John.
Biggest Hibs legend in my lifetime.

Oh aye, forgot to add, tear it up down there and get us another dollop of cash when you're signed by Arsenal/Man Utd or whoever.

All the very best to an excellent player and ambassador to the club. Intelligent and ambitious enough guy to skip the intermediate level at celtc and going straight to a higher level before pushing on again.
Thanks for the memories SJM.

Best wishes to Super John McGinn. Will never forget his contribution to Hibs over the last 3 years.
Forever a Hibs Legend.
Aston Villa have got one hell of a player

Gutted, but also delighted for the guy - a great move and thoroughly deserved.
All the best John McGinn. You leave a permanent Hibs legend who probably was the biggest player in our rejuvenation

It's a sad day. We say goodbye to an absolute legend of the club.
You'll be sorely missed John! A legend to every hibs fan I know of and has done more for this club than almost anyone, you'll go far!

Sad but inevitable day. Hope Super remains super for Villa and gets his team up to the Premier. Great memories of a great player.

John, you've been an absolute pleasure to watch during your time with us.
All the best at Villa and wherever else you grace a football pitch.
I really hope to see you back at Easter Road someday :-)

It's a sad day, but this is really the best realistic outcome.
We don't lose him for free next year, he's not playing against us 4 times a season, and Aston Villa has a higher potential sell-on fee to benefit from than Celtic.
Plus if the rumours of the 2m promotion clause turn out to be true it could be very lucrative.
