I actually think Mallan may well be the best set piece taker I have seen in 30 years of watching Hibs - I would say his conversion ratio probably beats Riordan and definitely surpasses Sauzee.
My only fear is that he does so well between now and the end of the month that we get a bid for him before the window closes!

That's how highly I regard this club." Ivan Sproule

Griffiths could fire them in too, but Malian gives you that sense you have a great chance to score whenever we get a free kick in a good position. I didn’t celebrate wildly as his free kick swept in as I was half expecting it to do so.

It is very early days but he's certainly doing a great job so far with them. Excellent corners too.

Riordan was the master though, rarely missed the target and scored plenty.
Obviously Sauzee wasnae bad either, but I reckon deeks and Griffiths were probably better than him (at free kicks...)

No doubt sparky and deeks could hit one but every time we win a free kick now we’re pretty much guaranteed a goal it’s phenomenal. Loving it

Griffiths. The free kick he scored at tin castle was probably one of the most magnificent goals I've ever seen us score, an absolute cracker!

Dead ball aside I thought he was excellent today. Always showed for the ball, looking to make things happen. I think he will be a great signing for us.

Pa Kujabi took a mean free kick... I'll get my coat!

If it’s goal scoring dead ball strikes then, yeah, Leigh and Deek are top of the list.
But if it’s purely dead ball strikes, here’s 3 from the not too distant past that I’ve witnessed.
John Collins
Chic Charnley
Alex Edwards
Those 3 made the ball sing from a dead ball.

Mallan might turn out to be better than the 2 best I've seen, Deek and Sparky, but today's goal was down to a goalkeeping blunder.
Set the wall up to cover one side of the goal, he was meant to cover the other - and didn't! If Bogdan had done that we'd all be (rightly) slating him .

With our wealth of midfield talent it would be great if we could just bring SM on for free kicks then pull him off the pitch again as they do in American Football. Please do not get me wrong looks a good player excellent touch but still looks to be operating about 80% of what he is truly capable of will benefit from game time and hard work at East Mains.

Also noticed against Asteras at home had heavy strapping on his left thigh so might explain my thinking as has obviously not been fully fit and has had to play with an injury.

McLeod. Who famously scored a free kick against Dundee and was forced to retake it. Scored again. Think he also played for St Mirren?

Am I correct in thinking that’s 3 out of 4 he’s scored so far? Only one I’ve seen him miss so far hit the wall at home to Asteras.
The jambos will be bricking it at the sight of him lining one up outside the box at the Begging Bowl.

The great thing is that opposition defenders will be very wary of making contact with our forwards around the box.
