Fantastic programme about a great huminitarian, who was clearly much more intelligent, and much more complex than he has been portrayed before.

Very enjoyable. Shankly was an amazing charismatic man who dragged Liverpool to greatness with his shrewd signings and motivational powers.

He made a disastrous decision to retire when he did by the sounds of it and ended up rather embarrassingly turning up to help with training when he was no longer employed by the club. He also started showing up at other clubs, including Everton, where he claimed to be treated better than he was at Liverpool. I don't know the full story but Everton might have done worse than to offer him the manager's job at that time.
