I'm from the Borders where traditionally Rugby Union is taught in the Schools and is definitely looked upon as being the working man's sport. Times are changing though and I'd say that football is now gaining the upper hand which in time, can only have a detrimental effect on the numbers participating in rugby union.
Yeah, the borders probably bucks the trend fir the rest of Scotland. As you say though even the borders teams are starting to struggle a bit which is very sad to see. There should have been a 3rd pro team based in the borders

Ireland 10 up v All Blacks, NZ man sent off and currently down to 13 men. Discipline sadly lacking from The All Blacks so far.

Tough red card that. By the letter of the law it's a red but the move happened so fast I'm not sure he could have done much different. It us why the law was changed I suppose so he had to go

Scottish Rugby is a shambles below the National team, and to an extent the two pro sides. I could write hundreds if words on what a dysfunctional organisation it is especially if you are one if the smaller clubs. It is the demise of club rugby that is leading to the situation where our u23s etc are so poor. The national team we can prop up with foreigners but no one is going to come to Scotland to play u23.
My club hasn't had a 2nd XV out regularly for at least 10 years. We used to run 3 XVs and an U18s. There are bigger clubs who used to run six or seven teams at the weekend who now only have two.

thanks for that insight into the game at grass roots, quite concerning the national side has to rely on so many players making their way from other countries and not so many from grass roots here.

not a game for rugby purists, riddled with errors

as much possession that SA have had they're not great to watch

Wales could steal this, but not with kicks like that

feel for townsend watching his side go ahead and then immediately watch Gilchrist roll his arm around the argentinians neck to gift the most idiotic of penalties, freakin schoolboy error

Kinghorn isn't a 10. Townsend likes him as he can play 11, 14, 15 and 10 at a push. I can't see why we are trying to make him our No1 stand off. Still don't like Townsend as a coach
