Scotland shooting themselves in the foot here, ref making it easy for France, several instances of their players impeding scotlands scrum half, nothing said (including the buildup to their try at the start of the second half)

Scotland showing today they are still miles away from the top teams, almost amateurish, silly penalties and shocking tackling.

Some of the things we do are excellent but we then go and make silly, basic errors that amateur teams would be embarrassed by. Hoggs drop just before half time changed the game. We could have gone in at the half 5 points up but ended going in nine points down. Huge change. So so frustrating. Russell had another crap day as well. He needs to get the basics right before he tries the fancy stuff

only 18 mins played Ireland 7 Italy 3, eejit Italian Hooker commits dangerous high tackle and Italy now play over an hour with just 14, now two defenders short due to some rule that they needed to bring a forward on

    20' 14-3
29' try, easy conversion missed 19-3
37' try, conversion missed again 24-3
    40' pen italy 24-6

Don't see the point of them being in the tournament. As you say they seem to be going backwards. 35 straight defeats.

So they're going through a lean spell. Does that mean they shouldn't be in the tournament as an earlier poster suggested?

No - and in fact their under 20s and club sides are improving. It is a bit of a training run for the other 5 teams at the moment though.

Edinburgh were brilliant. Playing the kind of rugby you love to see. Fast, attacking, flowing rugby. Great stuff. Connaught were a bit **** though

Didn't see this happening after 20 minutes. Players were slow and lacked any creativity and the atmosphere in the stadium was pretty flat. Then we suddenly sprung to life and never looked back!

Connacht were indeed pretty poor, but we kept up a great pace. Another enjoyable evening at the DAM
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

Glasgow beat them 20-42 in Connacht at the end of January?

Rather have them in as an improving national team than South Africa who would destroy everyone and the games are generally awful to watch.

think there was, possibly a few others in the discussion, but there was a statement made by the organising body last weekend (I think), saying that there’s no discussion and no chance of the teams or structure changing anytime soon

It was Georgia a year or 2 ago but now others have crept ahead of them in that “level 2” tournament - Spain I think and another I can’t remember just now.

Agreed. I was at the game and at Brive a few weeks ago - seen 18 Edinburgh tries in 2 games.

Hope Blair can keep developing as a coach. Could be an option once Townsend inevitably leaves.
