only a try in the last play of the game saw Edinburgh beat bottom club Zebre 24-17

i turned over to the footy when it went 10-5 in the 2nd half, not overly impressed

We were missing pretty much our entire starting XV against Zebre's full team. I thought the players did well to get a result. I had a great day yesterday - met Hamish Watson, Darcy Graham, Matt Currie, Emiliano Boffelli and WP Nel before the game yesterday - all happy to stop, chat and take photos.

Very convincing win for Glasgow earlier - they too scored a BP win with the last play of the game but against much stronger opposition.

Ken Scotland died at 86. Fair-haired fullback and British Lion 50s/60s. Remember him as one of the last to take a conversion straight on with the toe of the boot!

Off the top of your head, who springs to mind - a repeat offender - as one of the worst high tackle offenders in the Home Nations?
Owen Farrell must be top or very near the top of the list, but despite his previous, he only gets three weeks for this from an "independent" RFU discipline panel.

I say chaps, that means he is back in time to play for England vs Scotland in the 6NC. Jolly good show.

    And now David Duckham.

He was my teenage hero as a flying 3-quarter

I'm at Sale v Toulouse on Saturday in the Heineken Cup. Hopefully be a good game. Sale got hammered out there but hopefully tighter at home.

Wonder if that might trigger a Toonie to France, Rennie to Scotland move?

Two great away wins for Edinburgh and Glasgow this weekend in France - Edinburgh move to the QF of the Champions Cup and can secure a home game by beating Saracens next Sunday!

Only problem is Rennie's wife wants to be closer to grandchildren

was their seriously no one in the Edinburgh camp that didn't realise they needed more points at the end for a home tie ? instead Pyrgos kicks it out deary me , i don't think schoeman understands what the interviewer was pointing out to him at the end, just saying he was happy with the win.

Good riddance to him and well done Warriors.

Looking more and more likely that John Cooney is going to be called up by Townsend. With him and Healy, that's 2 very good new acquisitions.

The Cooney one is embarrassing. The guy has played from Ireland Schools, all the way to full international with 11 caps.

He had no interest playing for Scotland. If he isn’t good enough for Ireland then why would we want him? We have a 3 test lion in Price already, plus White, Horne and Velacott. Makes a complete joke of international rugby picking guys like that.

Pyrgos didn’t kick it out initially. He tried to keep it alive and then after the crowd went mental at him to boot it out, he did but only after he ran it and went through another phase.

Seems everyone at the DAM (including me) didn’t know the situation but Pyrgos did.

Another disappointing night at the office for Edinburgh - Sharks rested most of their Boks but were still too powerful in the end. Fought right til the end and again, I'd question the decision making not to take the penalty in the 82nd minute and kick it to get a draw!

A lot of Sharks fans in the crowd tonight, which made for a great atmosphere.

If we could have a fully available, healthy roster, we'd have a seriously scary team - it just hasn't quite worked this season sadly!

Missed the game last night as was at ER, disappointing result. How did Watson look?

    Rugby

Off to Twickenham for the game, fly tomorrow - first away day since covid!

Scotland really should be winning this. Settled team with established combinations all over the pitch, Russell playing some of his best stuff, the form side in this fixture over the last 5 years, England in transition (and not very good anyway). It’s all there for us to continue the run against them and set ourselves up for the tournament.

However, much like Hibernian, usually it’s games like this that Scotland let us down. Fingers crossed they will put in a big performance.

That’s interesting - would you say you give Scotland a favourite’s chance?

Was just considering asking people’s thoughts as may have a flutter tomorrow.. Scotland getting 7 points in the handicap (sure it was 9 a couple of days ago).

Watching the game at pub with friends tomorrow, and while I don’t mind watching the odd rugby game and will naturally be supporting Scotland, might have an interest to get me as ‘excited’ as the boys i’m watching it with.

As it’s still ‘only rugby’ to me 😁

I’d make England favourites. Not quite sure why the guy you’ve quoted is so confident of a Scotland win to be honest. They’ve won once at Twickenham in 40 years and that was without fans present.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Scotland won and I think it will be close but England are favourites.

Think you are right Scotlands record there is horrible. Decent recent record against England however getting rid of Jones was the best thing they have done

I used to quite like the Welsh rugby team, but I recently watched the BBC culture documentary, absolutely shocking stuff, the WRU is clearly toxic at a very high level.

👍 I think it was only ever going to be Scotland in the handicap, for me, if anything
