I'd like Wayne Barnes to never referee a Scotland game again. Some of his penalties against us were a result of him unable to contain himself in blowing the whistle (especially the not releasing and not rolling away penalties).

France deserved their win, no arguments - they were the better side when it counted.

said that to my wife during the game!! Barnes is a shocking ref and it went just the penalties he gave against us for me, it was the stuff he let go when he should have awarded pens to Scotland. Wasn't a bad game with two very solid defences, not much in it except for one bit of good attacking play from France. They are an excellent side at the moment so not too disheartened

Conditions in Glasgow for the Munster game are horrific. Unsurprisingly, lots of handling errors all over the pitch so far!

Despite the score line its been a good game so far . I assume the half time hooter is automatically sounded if not the guy in charge would've been rather embarrassed if that penalty had' ever been missed

If missed in normal play it would have been a drop out. As HT hooter went prior to it been taken it was always HT as soon as it was kicked or missed.

A wee bit off putting for the kickers concentration though having it go off as your preparing

1st try after an hours play. Some defending. One of the Saints players has made 62 tackles!

A brilliant game with an unbelievable ending.

Hardaker will be gutted after hitting the bar and then missing again with 2mins to go.

Both teams have it everything. Outstanding stuff.

Gregor gone for a different look this week. Pleased to see Darcy back in though I am a little surprised to see Duncan Weir dropped. He's looked great in the recent games - having said that, Van Der Walt is a class act at 10 and I'm delighted to see him being called into the Scotland setup (though as an Edinburgh man, I'm probably biased).

Van der Walt was always going to move Weir out. I like Duncy and he is a decent player but he will now be behind Russell, Hastings and Van der Walt.

i've been surprised at how good his kicking has been he's had a couple of decent performances, i don't think i've actually saw van der walt but i always seem to forget whenever Edinburgh/Glasgow teams are on the tellybox

This referee is utterly, utterly dreadful. Two bull**** decisions = 2 Irish tries.
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

I don’t understand that last Irish penalty, how is Fraser Brown supposed to roll away when there are 2 players on top of him?

I’d agree based on some of the penalties but Taylor should NEVER have been sinbinned, there was no clarity on grounding for Ireland’s second try and their third try was as clear a forward pass as you’ll see! And how Fraser Brown is expected to move anywhere is a total mystery.

Some poor decisions from Scotland’s players (especially at the breakdowns) but the ref was appalling.

also thought he was a bit blasé about the possible eye gouging incident - “I’ll have one quick look and then we’re moving on”

eye gouging is a pretty serious offence, and would normally be properly checked, but he seemed to be keen to move things on as fast as he could

I was surprised it wasn’t scrutinised as closely as Scotland’s overall discipline was in the breakdown of play, especially in the tackle.

Might just be the ones in my head but Ritchie seemed to cop it particularly badly today. Maybe a hard lesson to learn that they have to give the refs no excuses - we have the worst record in the ANC, so it isn’t one game and one referee.

Agree with all, hard lesson learned today, but as I said to McD our record is poor when it comes to silly things at the breakdown, we must take a leaf out of the books of others and learn to be more controlled.

Have just seen the highlights and how on earth that knock on was ruled deliberate is beyond belief.

i think the french gave away 18 penalties in that game...the last one costing them dearly, brave performance though from their 2nd team, they still had the chance in regulation time by going 7 points ahead with just three minutes remaining but you just knew they would gift yet another penalty from the restart and they duly obliged by losing a converted try, all credit goes to the young french team though imo, a full french team would have won that i think
