Paltry. I recall when a fixture against Patrick would be expected to get that on a windswept terrace.
Mind you, that was George Best’s first Hibs game.

Either way, both figures are wrong.
Attendance means the number of people at the game, not seats sold.

If you take the top tier of the south out of the equation , a 14k attendance would mean almost a quarter of the remaining seats being empty.. That wasn’t anywhere near the case

I think your estimate of 14k seems about right. Not sure why people disagreeing so strongly. East and FF looked about 3/4 full and the South was less than half full.
Honestly that was the coldest I've felt at a game for years. Cowdenbeath away last time I was that cold. So much for summer football though

Hibs introduced a system for fans to re-release their seats, did this apply to today’s game?
Famous 5 lower was really empty today, obviously lots of families away

I would say around 15,000. Whatever the actual crowd was it certainly wasn't over 17,000 that's for sure. for the first time at a league game there were empty spaces at both ends of the west lower and noticeable gaps in the east, rather than the odd few seats dotted around you usually see.
But in all honesty at wasn't that surprising ... that was as cold as ER has been for ages and it was the Easter holiday weekend, two of our party were away for starters. I presume the cold was one of the reasons that the east was barely a third full by the time the final whistle went
