I get a google email every morning with Hibs related news stories and in today's feed there was an article on Efe Ambrose from I'm guessing a Nigerian paper called Punch. There's a link at the end, but one line in there got me - "The Peacocks face third-placed Rangers at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday".
Never heard Hibs referred to as the peacocks before - anyone? (or is it just poor translation)
Article was at http://punchng.com/im-happy-playing-...-hibs-ambrose/

Hibernian Peacocks v the Gorgie plastic Owls, am liking the sound of that, will appeal to the American Market.

I quite like the idea of the Peacocks being our nickname. Wait, we don't already have a nickname do we?

Is there any reason not to adopt it?
No one else domestically uses it I don't think, its unique and the reason for it is utterly stupid in origin. What's not to like?
"Why are you called the Peacocks?"
"Because of Efe Ambrose and a game that never took place between a Maltese(non-falcon) club and The Rangers."

Can we not get a pre season trip to Malta to play Hibernians? Would capture the imagination of both sets of fans I'd think.
Then again given our recent escapades abroad maybe not......PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017. Probably robbed in other years

Is it possible for us to make a wall of peacock sound at the game? They kind of shriek do they not?

Or if Hibernian won't go to the Hibernians perhaps we should bring the Hibernians to Hibernian...
Would be a right pack of peacocks.

Unfortunately our new club mascot would be unable to travel with us on European adventures
