Was at Dekmantel festival in Amsterdam the other weekend. Up there with Sonar, BCN as the best festival I’ve attended.

Highlights; Danny Krivit in the sunshine at the selectors stage, Ugandan Methods in the UFO, Surgeon in the UFO, Skee Mask & the Zenker brothers, and definitively Ben UFO in the Boiler Room (maybe my favourite DJ out there just now)

That was my first time seeing him. Had the chance a few times but never taken it up as the harder side of techno isn’t usually my thing.

He was absolutely class though, was playing proper groovy stuff. Definitely helped that he was playing on a behemoth of a soundsystem right enough

I don’t care about what all you hardcore purists say. I know I was a happy hardcore man back in the 90s, but I didn’t care then and I don’t care now, I was there when the scene was at its peak and I’m still there now. Party time,!

I remember proper hardcore when joey beltram was the second hardest dj of the night. These days will never be beaten, because everything after those nights is just a recreation of events. You were either there or you weren’t.

Happy Hardcore does my nut in, apologies Lord Bunberry.

Been getting right back into this the past few days though, on the more ambient side of techno

Ishkur's guide to electronic music has been updated recently. Worth a browse if you want to distinguish trancecore from hardstyle.

And if you want an even broader map of music genres, try 'Every Noise at Once' at http://everynoise.com
