any indication of the number of games played by each team?
Alcohol IS the answer, but I forget the question...

Galatasaray have nearly equalled that total in 7 games this season with an average of 41000.

Given our current average attendances, we'd be the second best supported team in Austria (if we ever moved there :-) )
Although, the third best would only have an average of just over 10k, so it's not much of an achievement.
Any excuse for a dig at the Austrians is OK by me...

Our crowds stand up pretty well Europe wide I would guess, there are plenty of teams out there who are so called bigger names but who don't get the attendances we do. Only 3 clubs in the Portuguese league do better than us, with the 4th club about equal on just over 17,000. We would be roughly the 9th best supported team in the Netherlands and even just below the top half in Spain Italy and France. In Belgium we would be roughly the 6th best supported club and in Sweden around the 4th best supported.
Considering three of these countries have twice the population of Scotland and in the case of Spain The Netherlands France and Italy considerably more we can hold our heads up in any company so far as how well we are supported goes. Its also reasonable to point out that many of the clubs in these leagues who outperform us come from far larger cities and with only one club or at least one club which is vastly better supported than its local rivals, Amsterdam and Rotterdam being two cases in point.

Out of interest, am I the only one who would prefer we go back to reporting fans through the turnstiles rather than tickets sold?

I’ve always thought that tickets sold is the most honest way of doing it.

All the clubs can do is base it on tickets sold , anyone with half a brain will tell you that it is a far better move for the club , especially when they are negotiating sponsorship deals etc. It also encourages fans to buy in advance which again benefits the club.

Seriously, though, as LG suggested, if you're negotiating sponsorship, it will do your case more good if you can suggest that your average attendance is 15k, rather than 12k.

For a country that belittles it football so much Scotland is amazing in terms of turning up to watch. Barring a couple of small Nations we go to watch more games per ca pita than any other countries the world over.

So long as promotion / relegation continued I agree.
This was one of the biggest flaws in the Rantic petitioning to join the EPL - it was presented as a one-time deal, with no prospect of returning to the Scottish game.

Its hardly yam like , almost every other club in Britain does the same thing.
