I though the above was an interesting article regarding the on and off field troubles of both Milan clubs in recent years.
The issues with a shared stadium are interesting and should be good for thought to those who think it's a quick fix for some in Scotland. Also it shows that with continuing and ever more rapid commercialisation of football even some of the traditional giants are being left behind.

They were in a great position with the shared stadium, not owning or maintaining it just renting from Local Council for their own games!
It is done a lot on the Continent, but for whatever reason we think its a bad idea?
The likes of Bayern Munich don't own where they play, but have a fantastic training facility that has a Hotel, Sports injuries clinic, indoor and outdoor pitches and it is used all week by the players who can stay overnight if they don't want to travel.
Our biggest problem is East Mains is great, but our Stadium is left empty all week and we are using good money to maintain it for once or twice a week games?
That money could be better used in bringing in better players and upgrading East Mains!!!

Shared, government owned stadiums that were being neglected and becoming run down are a big reason for the decline of Italian football in general.

In saying that, a shared stadium can still work for the Milan clubs but they need to stay at San Siro, work closer together, keep the capacity at 80k and find a way to wrestle ownership to themseves or, at least, find a way to reduce the red tape and go to town on the substantial revenue opportunities available to them - San Siro and Milan are huge plus points for them, with "brands" that 99% of clubs can only dream about.
Whatever they achieve on the pitch this season, and in the near future, I hope they retain and grow a core of Italian players through their teams - this 8 or 9 stranieri approach (especially Internazionale, living up to their name) is a joke and a big part of the reason the fans struggle to relate to and support the players on the pitch, never mind the effect it has on their excellent youth systems, the identity of the league and the paucity of options for the national team..

My favourite club is Fiorentina, a decent sized club in European terms, but from what I've seen on the telly and images I've seen of it their ground looks an absolute hole that would embarrass an English league 1 club.
