What an absolute legend of a man. Played for his boyhood club, beat cancer (twice), became a manager and ended a century long hoodoo and became a club icon.
Hope he's having a great day.Last edited by Northernhibee; 06-10-2017 at 07:30 PM.

Alan Stubbs, I salute you sir. Firstly as a human being for what you've come through in life, secondly for the transformation you contributed heavily to of our fine footballing club which was a laughing stock of Scottish football for years.

Just look at the difference in the club that his tenure has brought.
A great team that's the foundation for the talented team we have now. Most of the team still his and Lennon has added to it with international quality players.
Attendances pre-Stubbs were 7-8k. Now they're 15-17k, even looking at sell outs for big games.
Previously the football world laughed at us for being in the lower leagues and not having won the cup since 1902. Now we're the main team in the city and can hold our heads high.
Arguably one of the most important managers in the history of the club. Was hugely unlucky with a crazy busy schedule in the league in his second season and having absolutely nothing to work from in season one.

Hope you had the best Birthday ever Alan. Sorry the message is a wee bit late but not as late as 114 years!
You'll always be a Hibernian legend, made even better (for me at least) by your status as an Evertonian.
Haste ye back to ER.

Reading David Farrell's book at the moment, and his biggest frustration was his derby record and his opinion that Hearts simply knew how to win those games even when Hibs had obviously superior teams. Under Stubbs, Hibs outplayed and outfought Hearts (even in the season when Hearts won the league) and Stubbsy changed any perception that Hibs have an inferiority complex in derbies. If he hadn't, we'd never have won the cup in 2016. That legacy is immeasurable.
