1890's photo (possibly Hibs) Help required

Morning, can anyone identify the player in this photo ? I believe it was taken in 1890, in the Edinburgh area. The player is wearing a Scotland strip and cap - Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Looks like it's possibly a player in the Scotland national team strip. The badge looks a thistle design.

My first thought was Charlie Chaplin.
Maybe Willie Groves? The picture is a bit blurry on my phone but there are similarities, check out Willie Groves images, you might get a result

Maybe the Hibernian Historical Trust can help?

They have a lot of knowledge and I know from experience that they try to help where they can!

I'm not saying it is but it could be a photograph of a Scottish rugby internationalist. The thistle doesn't match anything worn by a Scotland football team during the period.

You are correct. It is a rugby player. The photo is so low resolution on my phone that it is hard to date, but I think by the 1890s rugby players wore shorts. That photo may be older, like closer to the 1870s.
