    Podcasts & Apps - suggestions

I'm going on holiday to the Dominican Republic next week for a fortnight & looking to download some podcasts for my ipod and some apps for my phone to entertain me whilst relaxing by the pool.

    Any suggestions?

I can recommend lots of true crime Podcasts if that's what you're interested in?

Was going to be my first suggestion. That's the one that got me into Podcasts.

If you liked Serial, you will like Undisclosed. Season one is the AdnanSyed case in much more detail, really fascinating. Season two is another possible wrongful conviction case. Between the two seasons and the addendum episodes, there must be about 40 hours of listening at least.

S-Town is pretty good, similar to Serial in as much as it's an investigative journalist digging deep into a story.

Just started listening to a podcast called true crime garage. They go over unsolved cases and map out all the evidence. Only listened to one so far but gonna keep going as I find it interesting. They have over 100 episodes so might have a case you will like.

First couple of episodes in season 1 aren't very slick, but stick with it, they get better and the content is still good.

Yeah I've been there. Here's my TripAdvisor review of it -

    https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUs...inican_Re.html

Saona Island is a good trip. I didn't do it when I stayed at the Royalton, as I'd done it before, so I can't tell you how long it'll take to get there.

So here's my Podcast list of recommendations - wide mixture.

Serial is excellent - well, series one was - not listened to others..

Undisclosed is jaw dropping UK story - interesting too.

Guardian audio long reads - deep content on interesting topics

The Big Interview with graham hunter - he is a bit sycophantic but possibly the best football interview programme i've listened to

desert island discs - the ones you've never heard of, are often the most interesting

The Moth - true stories told by real people to a public audience

Here's the thing - interview show hosted by alec Baldwin

Seriously - BBC radio 4 show

sportsound - during the season - nightly football shows

S Town - great true story

Fitba Hacks - interviews with well kent Scottish journos about their job - hosted by a hun, quality of sound isn't great - but chat is decent

The comedians comedian podcast - stories from the comedy industry around the craft of comedy - if thats your bag - very easy to listen to

Kermode & Mayo film review on 5 live - overly long and a bit too chatty - but film reviews are good

All songs considered - American based music review show

Do you have a link to the Undisclosed podcast you are referring to? I can only find the American version that I mentioned earlier. If there's a UK one is like to listen to it.

Sorry EH6. Undisclosed is a US story. I meant Untold - The Daniel Morgan story. That is the UK story which is well worth listening to

Here are some other Podcasts I've listened to and enjoyed. I wouldn't say they were as good as Serial and Undisclosed, but if you like True Crime or true life mysteries, then they're worth a listen.

Sword and Scale - Not for the faint hearted, it's tagline is - The show that proves, the worst monsters, are real! It's a different story each episode and some of them are truly horrific. A few I've not bothered to listen to as they involved child abuse, but the ones about real murders are interesting.

Up and Vanished - This is about a missing person enquiry and to begin with I thought it was so-so, what makes it more interesting is the developments in the case due to the podcast being aired. I won't give anything away but I am hooked waiting to find out what is going to happen.

Accused - This one is about an unsolved murder, where the police are not investigating because they believe they know who did it but he got found not guilty.

Breakdown - Season one is wrongful conviction case, and season two follows a live court case.

In the Dark - Another missing person case, this time a young boy, again, there are major developments that happen due to podcast digging into old leads.

I'm on series 2 of Untold. I'm actually in disbelief of what I'm hearing. I honestly thought things like this didn't happen in this country. That poor family going all this time without justice.

it really is devastating - corruption between media and police etc in this country

I've just finished listening to the "At home with Colin Murray" podcasts and they are superb. He has really done his research and has some wonderful questions for each of his sporting guests and they really open up to him. Certainly not along the lines of "Brian, why are you so good".

I'd love it if he could include Stubbsy or David Gray in his next series.

The News of the World was a vile disgusting organisation that was, by the sounds of it, up to it's eyeballs in helping to cover up this case.

Think I might read the book once I've finished the Podcast.
