I don't know about these exotic bets. What does lucky fifteen mean in relation to your bet?

15 bets in 1 so 1 acca, 4 trebles, six doubles and 4 singles.

    A £1 lucky 15 would cost £15.

Shocker of a ride from Jamie Spencer on the evens favourite in the 7.15 at Newcastle tonight. Seen it all before, waited way way too long before he made his move and was edged out. Glad I only had a few quid on it....🙄

Wee tip for the season, follow Laura Pearson and I’m sure you’ll go well. Seen her last season and she looks top class. Got a few rides this weekend, maybe do a wee Yankee tonight at Wolverhampton.

I had similar with Richard Kingscote on a favourite at Lingfield yesterday. Dropped the horse right out the back, didn't move a muscle until well inside the last furlong, horse picked up well but had far too much to do and got beaten by half a length. Horse was still full of running but leaving 8 or 9 lengths to be found in a 6 furlong race is crazy.

    Here’s the 64,000 question...!

How do folk come up with their horse selections? Do you concentrate on a particular style of race, odds, form or do you pick names you like?

    Just wondering!

Charlie Deutsch in the three o'clock at Ludlow today: a criminal ride, and his only ride of the day. If he wasn't complacent, he must have placed a sly lay bet against his horse, a 4/9 fav in a hurdle. He hung around towards the back for almost all the race, and the horse had barely broken sweat by the time he finally decided to shake the reins - AFTER the final hurdle. Didn't move a muscle until that point; didn't cover the move by the jockey in the lead and came second.

Has anyone on here been to Newmarket?

It seems a glaring omission from my racing CV. Planning a trip next May and debating either the Chester Cup, Dante at York (both of which I have been to before) or Newmarket for the Guineas. I'm leaning towards the latter as it would also allow a trip to the National Stud and the racing museum.

Any advice on enclosures, places to stay etc would be appreciated.

I went years ago for Champions Day (one of the years Alborada won), my mate was guaranteed about £14k from The Racing Post's 10 to follow so paid for us to go down. It was a down and back on the same day Planes, Trains & Automobiles sort of trip (train to Prestwick, flew from Prestwick to Stansted, taxi to the course, taxi to Luton for the flight back to Edinburgh), I'm sure we were back in Ryans for about 2100! George Duffield helped pay for the pints. 😀

Cannae help with places to stay, no recollection which stand we were in.

End of an era with that four.
Like Mellor, Biddlecombe, Gifford, Kellaway(?) in the 60s.
Francome, O'Neill, Scu and Dunwoody in the 70s/80s.
Who's the next four to dominate the next decade or so?

Haven't really been thinking about it now that the superior brother 'flat racing' is properly returning however..

I don't see why THE SHUNTER can't continue his good form stepping out of handicaps at 7/2 in the first, and maybe BILLAWAY can get compensation for being edged-out up the hill at Cheltenham, 3/1 in the 4.05.

good luck.. I guess it's something to keep us busy until the golf comes on

Like the look of Jason the Militant in the 3:25 and was impressed with Elle Est Belle at Cheltenham so will probably put them on a double. The 2:50 looks an exciting race with Tiger Roll thrown into the mix as well

Good horses all. I'm really looking forward to the duel between Monmiral and Adagio in the juvenile hurdle. That will be a cracker.

I don't think Tiger Roll has a hope in hell in the Bowl. 6s is the current price, I'd say he should be closer to 16s. If Mister Fisher can jump properly I think he will be close, he went to pieces in the Ryanair but has some good form prior to that and might still have a bit improvement in him, I'm not sure you can say that about many of the others. Clan Des Obeaux is probably the one to beat though, he's been targeted at this since Kempton at Christmas.

In the other races I quite like The Shunter in the 1st, another open to improving. Monmiral in the Doom Bar. Jason The Militant in the Hurdle, I don't think De Bromhead has sent him to Aintree over Cheltenham for nothing. I quite like Mighty Stowaway at bigger odds in the Foxhubters. Probably the best amateur jockey of the lot on board and he looks the type who might enjoy the National fences.

A tale of 2 horses in the 1st 2 races for me.

The Shunter looked the winner from way out in the 1st but his jumping fell to pieces over the last 3. Monmiral on the other hand jumped like a stag and looks every inch a big contender for next season. Big horse and looks a chaser in time. 1/2 so far and a treble including Monmiral, Clan and Bilaway still intact.

I like to pick my grand national winner based on them wearing green. I see the bookies have cottoned on to that though and all the green lads are pretty short odds. 9 of the first 12 shortest odds have an acceptable level of green on the jersey.

Absolutely. The Shunter still one to be on the right side of based on the way he travelled through the race. Done well to finish as close as he did given the display of jumping in final third of the race.

Good luck with the the treble.. especially as I’m on the same selections along with the jolly in the bumper 😀

Think the cheekpieces helped focus him. Never looked like stopping, focused on his jumping, picked up well and saw it out.

I'd send him to Punchestown for the Gold Cup there now.

Edit: Ruby Walsh just said the same. He looks tailor made for there if he travels OK.
