    The Rangers Development Team

You may have seen that The Rangers are being allowed a year's sabbatical from the SPFL Development League. Instead they'll play a series of friendlies against the "top teams" in Europe. It's being portrayed as a fantastic opportunity for them to learn from better teams. Given they finished behind Ross C, Hamilton, Celtc, Us & Motherwell last season, it would appear they've already had that opportunity! Anyway it will be difficult for the young lads to do themselves justice with a For Sale sign dangling from their necks! No doubt their smaller brethren will be contemplating the same, as soon as they can find the bus fares!

It isn't that bad an idea, the development league is a waste of time and should be scrapped in favour of a reserve team league. The "development league" does nothing to develop players that is why we send out so many on loan to lower league clubs.

Good idea but they want to play in the cup competitions. Why let them pick and choose where and when they want to participate?

I don't get this reserve league campaign!
You can play upto 5 overage players in a development league game, what's likely to be the difference between this and a reserve league team?

    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/SC040033

And their youth development can't keep their books up to date either.

Also, check out " Nature of Business " - 92000,

Gambling and Betting Activities ! WTF.

    * I see the company was previously used to run Rangers Pools, hence the gambling tag.

    They're still a bad bet.

So, rather than travel to the likes of Ormiston and Oriam, they're going where? Barcelona and Munich?

That'll solve their cash-flow problems, right enough.

Is this actually going to happen or are they flying a kite? There is precious little detail. Who are the other clubs involved and is there any value to the players' development to be playing friendlies instead of competitive games?

Because that company is for fund raising and is not the company carrying out the actual youth teams.

They do seem to be able to suit themselves with impunity what with this and also being able to ban the BBC from their ground. There is no way that a club should be able to not play in the development league. Incredibly arrogant from them and incredibly weak from whoever runs this league.

Sure, but what would happen if every team (or even 3 or 4 ) tried to do the same? I'm not over concerned TBH but just weary of the spin coming from the MSM.

The ultimate irony was that it was the Old Firm who got rid of the old reserve league.

Because they have 'Rangers' in their name.

The difference is likely to be that the other team puts out a straightforward development team so if you have 5 reserve players in yours the game does nobody any good.In a reserve league there is more chance of teams being better matched with more experienced players .

Except many teams won't be able to afford a squad that would allow them to put out a proper reserve team, so they'll end up playing youth players anyway and it will be much the same.
