Excellent recent cup record v Dons

    2015/16 League Cup: Hibs 2 Aberdeen 0
    2012/13 Scottish Cup: Hibs 1 Aberdeen 0
    2011/2012 Scottish Cup: Aberdeen 1 Hibs 2
    2006/07 Scottish Cup: Aberdeen 2 Hibs 2; Replay: Hibs 4 Aberdeen 1
    1999/00 Scottish Cup: Hibs 1 Aberdeen 2
    1998/99 League Cup: Hibs 1 Aberdeen 0
1996/97 Scottish Cup: Hibs 2 Aberdeen 2; Replay: Aberdeen 0 Hibs 0 (Hibs win on pens)

Nine matches in both cups, including replays, and just the one defeat in 20 years. We've been a bit of cup bogey side for them. Fingers crossed that continues on Saturday.

I remember faking a dentists appointment to go up to that replay in 96 - hibs ran free busses or something? Was quite a good hibs support from what i remember.

We should have won that one too. Took the lead through a great goal from Latapy then threw it away. IIRC our right back of the time whose name escapes me (Collins?) declared himself fit after being out injured but had to limp off and Stuart Lovell had to move back into defence. I remember McLeish saying it played a big part in our defeat.

Yes, Douglas Cromb put on free buses from Easter Road.

Think Kevin Harper scored the winning penalty.

Haha, that one defeat was my first time at Hampden. Would love to beat them on Saturday.

He did, IIRC he had to retake it as Hibs player encroached into the box? Pretty sure his retake went in off the post - decent Hibs support that night.

I might be wrong but did Leighton not save a Dons penalty only for it to be retaken, then he saved again?

I think the Don's player missed( Leighton save) and everyone was celebrating as that meant we were through however ref ordered retake which they scored. We then had to score to go through which we did.

That sounds right - I remember celebrating thinking we were through then the ref ordered the retake, Harper scored & then celebrating again.

He made it a retake because he said Leighton moved there wouldnt have been any players encroaching in a shoot out.

Here's the shoot-out footage. Absurd decision to order a retake. Leighton never moves at all.

Incredibly strange decision. Barely moves at all. Very suspect. Kenny Clark i think it was wouldnt have had the bottle to do that to either of the old firm that is for sure.

And a 1-1 draw in 1953 for the real oldies among us (check out the size of the crowd!)
