I've been asked by a mate to make mention of Martin Macari, who passed away very recently aged 47 having been diagnosed with cancer around 18 months ago. Martin was a man with many friends, and some on here may have known him as a lifelong Hibs fan who was a regular at matches in his younger days. While his appearances at games were few and far between in later years, it gave him great pleasure to see Hibs finally lift the Scottish Cup in what proved to be the final months of his life. His funeral took place in Edinburgh today and I gather the Hibees got an honourable mention.

Rest in peace fellow Hibbie. Gone way too soon. Glad you got to see the boys lift the Scottish Cup.

Martin was an absolute gentleman whom I knew through work and as a fellow cricketer. He was a really decent bloke and the news of his death came as a real shock to me. RIP Martin, I'm glad you lived to see Hibs finally lift the Scottish Cup. GGTTH.

I knew Martin from cricket too and he was a very warm and friendly person. Remember one particular derby at Tynecastle where we were standing in the old Gorgie Road end. RIP a true Gent.
