Is that kind of incident inside a stadium quite rare in German football?
Also how are they going to accommodate season ticket holders if a third of their ground will be shut v Wolfsburg?

Reading the other article, the way Red Bull are treated in general is disgusting.

My German son -in law,who supports Hoffenheim says that RB Leipzig are hated by the rest of the Bundesliga Clubs, because it is not fan pwned and is regarded as having no "tradition" or history. These things are regarded as important in Germany.
The club is totally subsidised by Red Bull with vast amounts of money and they pay ridiculous wages. They are not allowed to be called "Red Bull" in terms of Bundesliga regulations and the "RB" is a way of getting round this.
However none of this can excuse the behaviour of the Dortmund supporters, who regard themselves as the true guardians of German footballing traditions.

I'm glad it's the Wolfburg game as I'm taking the wee fella to their game v Ingolstadt in March and want him to be able to see the yellow wall.

Some of that fine should go towards refunding those fans who were subject to the abuse. It won't happen though.

Red Bull are a stain on football. The way they destroyed Salzburg was shocking. The real Austria Salzburg continue and had a game against FC United of Manchester recently. Red Bull are desperate to get their hands on an English club. There will be uproar when it happens.

This incident seemed to happen outside, RB fans being attacked just for being RB fans, young old or females were getting missiles thrown at them and being attacked, and yes, after having a wee look at youtube these types of incidents happen inside the ground as well.

However unlike Gretna their future is not dependent on one man,as the Club is profitable,51% owned by the fans and has a regular home crowd of 30,000 in a stadium far better than most in the UK.They also do well in the transfer market e.g.Fimino to Liverpool and Sigurdson to Swansea.
Also unlike RB they do not pillage other clubs by offering ridiculous wages.
In fact they are losing two of their best players to Bayern, because they cannot compete on wages.

It certainly seems that RB Leipzig are pretty well despised around Germany for the way the club has been created and funded ..... but from my point of view I would say that since the fall of the wall there hasn't been much sign of a club from Eastern Germany making a dent in the league, I would imagine there is still a pretty large disparity financially between the old east and west Germany, so perhaps something like this was needed to get east German football on the map.
Having said that, Red Bull clearly see taking teams over and re branding them as a huge part of their marketing strategy. It will be interesting to see what happens if they try the same in England ....... it wont be hard to predict I'm guessing.
Whatever the case, what the hell has who the good folk of Leipzig choose to support got to do with fans of any other German club? ...... No matter what the circumstances of RB's background it doesn't give fans of Dortmund or any other club the right to take it out on their fans.
If Dormund's fans think its acceptable to throw bottles and stuff at women and kids perhaps Yellow is an appropriate colour for them.

There was an announcement with all the press and some wag at the club had placed cans of Red Bull on the table.
Turns out it was just them unveiling Tim Sherwood as Director of Football.

Anyone who thinks an issue like a lack of fan ownership of a club should be challenged by throwing missiles at the fans of that club is a moron who doesn't deserve to be listened to. All they will accomplish with that type of action is to lose support for their cause.

Hoffenheim are taking players from bigger traditional clubs by offering wages they can only afford due to Hopp's financing. They've taken youth players from Frankfurt by waving the cheque book.
Wolfsburg VW money, Leverkusen Bayer cash and Hoppenheim SAP money - Ingolstadt and Audi also- is a means for smaller clubs with average crowds to buy their way to relative success rather than spend what they take in from TV and gate money. Stadium and shirt sponsorship are usually inflated massively to boost turnover.

It's despicable paying players over the odds, you should only be allowed to do it if you are in England or have already been doing it for years.
