is he the boy we had on loan and allowed to go back early to the Arabs ?

  8. #7
He played a large part in two last minute goals around December if I remember correctly, I liked his link up play.

However I wasn't very impressed when he played against us in the cup semi, suppose we'll find out soon enough if we did miss a beat.

Thought Mixu wanted him back, loan recalled by United.

yeah something like that, i'm sure we didn't have to let him go back early though and it was out of 'goodwill' that he was allowed to go back early

    i think anyway

Did Anier play at the same time as Humphrey at Mwell?

He did pretty well at Hibs given the little time he had on the pitch. Dundee Utd. recalled him and although Hibs could have dug their heels in to keep him, I don't think that's the done thing.

A player, not good enough for a team we took care of a week or so ago, doesn't have much going for him. He's joined a club in free fall.

A player we'd have kept if given the option in January.

Might not be far off with that. Certainly don't think we're missing out.

Graham scores at a rate of at least twice the goals Anier does, I am not a massive Graham fan but I know who I would rather have.

We had the option to keep him but sent him back to make room for Stokes.

For the money he was on at Utd circa £2k a week, hes not really worth it.

Didn't we replace him with an equally ineffective Dagnall?

How many goals did Anier score again? Graham has contributed plenty. So many unnecessary posts criticising a striker who has scored plenty goals with little game time...

Yeah I'm sure we did. Stokes replaced Malonga and Dagnall replaced Anier

Where are all these unnecessary posts criticising Graham? What you on about?

Anier didn't score, he only made 3 sub appearences, coming on in the 86th minute, 67th minute, and 84th minute. So I don't think you can really have expected him to have scored many.

I wasn't a big Anier fan either to be honest, I wasn't disappointed he left, I hoped we'd bring in someone better. I don't think Graham is better.

A lot of folk saying we could have kept him but didn't. I think the reality was that we had him on a season-long loan and Mixu was toiling and keen to try new striking options. Mixu asked us to break the agreement so Anier could return. Rather than sour relations between the clubs, we agreed to his release. Was a shame as he had just got himself fit and made a couple of key contributions late in games just before new year. He was looking good and I think he'd have had a big impact in the second half of the season. We didn't take the piss with his parent club though and did the decent thing - although it could be argued it wasn't in our best interests.

"Tannadice boss Mixu Paatelainen has also expressed a desire to have 25-year-old Anier back on Tayside to aid United’s battle against relegation but, Stubbs disclosed, it is Hibs and not Anier’s parent club who have the decision to make. He said: “We have an option if we want to use it to make it a season-long loan. I have spoken to Mixu already about it. There’s something in the agreement where by a certain date we have to inform Dundee United we want to take up that option. There’s a good chance we will.”

To be honest, I forgot he ever played for Hibs.

And I can still remember Torsten Schmugge who played one match as a trialist and 'Jack' Rippa!
