Don't believe you. The BBC hate the Hibs.

    I read it on here.

Send it to Darkheid to 'inspire' them ahead of their game tonight

    Brilliant.

The game at Easter Rd sounded mental.
I didn't know they came back over to play a friendly as a way of an apology.

I've got the programme I bought on the night and which has the team changes in my childish writing. Not got the ticket but "I was there". Still have clear memories of the game and the semi final against Roma.

Great stuff. To put it into perspective the greatest game ever played in Scotland took place in May 1960 when Real Madrid beat Eintracht Frankfurt 7-3 in the European Cup Final. Incidentally EF had beat oldco 12-4 on aggregate in the semi!!
A few months later Barca became the 1st team ever to defeat Real M in the European Cup, a great quiz question! 5 weeks later Hibs went to Barcelona & scored 4 goals! IIRC the Barca team had only 1 change from the team which defeated Real M & that change was a 1st choice returning from injury. 2 months later Hibs won the return by 3-2 thereby scoring 7 goals against really famous opponents for the first time!!
To make the victory even more unreal we had lost our 1st 8 league games that season & only got our 1st win at the end of October, 4-3 versus St M & IIRC we were 3-0 down in that game! Only Hibs can do this, GGTTH indeed!

Great memories brog. When EF played the second leg I was out, came in and asked the score. When told it was 6-3 I thought Rangers (as they were then still called!) had won 2-0 and this was the aggregate score. When told it wasn't I was disappointed that our rep had been gubbed. Those were more innocent times for a young lad!

According to my programme their team was -
Medrano, Foncho, Garay,Verges, Gensanna, Segarry, Evaristo, Koscis, Martinez, Suarez, Villaverde. Martinez and Suarez scored their goals.

Our team - Simpson, Fraser, McClelland, Baxter, Easton, Baird, McLeod, Preston, Baker, Kinloch, Ormond. Baker scored the first, Preston the second and Bobby Kinloch the winner.

At 2-1 I vividly remember us getting a corner, the crowd roared, my dad said "why do they do that, we never score from a corner", the ball was met by Tommy Preston to equalise. Didn't let him forget that fir a long time! Not sure who "delivered" , think it was from the left so probably Willie Ormond.

Barca were in both the European Cup and Inter-Cities cup that year. Benfica beat them in the European Cup final 3-2..
