Shockarooney right enough. Poor lad, his career is definitely on the wane.

I am all for laughing at Rooney but in this case it's in extremely poor taste. The original clip was about a kid that had died of cancer! Should not have been used to laugh at a declining footballer IMO.

I thought it was quite clever.

Bad taste in your eyes, but goggle box stuff quite clearly taken out of context and I don't think it is meant to offend at all. If anything, it mocks the over the top concern at a very rich and successful professional player who is not as good as he used to be.

I do see where your coming from but I honestly don't think anybody is trying to be disrespectful to the poor child who sadly passed away or trying to suggest that some over paid footballers career going down hill is even remotely the same to a cancer fight.

FFS, nobody is saying that here, some folk seem to be on the lookout for anything these days?

Well, that escalated quickly Blackpool. Thing is, If you want to be by something, you don't have far to go on the internet. I'm with Stephen Fry and being offended...google it - a great response.

Sure it is. Same goes for that Downfall spoof about the cup final. Hitler was responsible for a lot more than one child's death - yet people think it's amusing to subtitle his words with witticisms about a football match (which we won 3-2).

Too many folk out there trying to manipulate other peoples' freedoms to conform with their own little shangri-las.

    Oh for goodness sake.

Humour and satire are *exactly* the things that fascists try to ban. Downfall is a terrific film and has got much more exposure through those endless spoofs.

I think humour was *exactly* what was being attempted in the post you quoted.
