    League cup shake up continues

    http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/h...e-in-november/

Back to the old days. I think this is much better. Keeps the competition nice and compact, and keeps more weekends free when the weather is normally worse after the year. Also gives us something a bit different to the english leagues too.

Totally agree with this. There should be no overlap between the League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

Does this mean we're going to win it twice in one year?

    United we stand here....

Was it a daft sideshow when we won it in 1991?

The final will be the day after my 50th! The mother of all weekends when we retain the trophy 😉

no, but i was 6 and hadn't a clue. Its subjective, however alongside other leagues and cups, having a final in November (to me) seems mental.

Why?When we won it in 91 it was played over a few months, months in which we were on fire,if it had went into 92 that year doubt we would have won it as we really tailed off, looking forward to it myself.

Exactly. If the SC final was played in November or December we'd have won it many times.

I'm with you here to an extent. Having the final in November kind of reeks of the powers that be adopting a "get this pish over and done with" approach to the LC.

    Great idea.

A decent early season competition to build a bit momentum and enjoy early success. Just a pity they are unlikely to reinstate the European place.

If the big clubs have their way, we won't have any European spots to reinstate.

Would be great to get a European spot for winning a cup tho.

I seem to remember being quietly pleased in December 1972 for some reason as Christmas came early.

My best ever 23 days of watching Hibs! Beating a great Celtc team for our first cup win in 70 years. 8-1 versus Ayr, 1-1 back at Celtc Park, 3-2 vs Sheep in a wonderful game at ER then the small matter of starting the New Year at PBS! Wonderful!

Like the idea that the New Year is about the League and the SC. The group stages could be fun, and makes for something different. When it comes to cups, I like it when a tournament starts and finishes within a reasonable time. Makes it seem more of an event. Right now Im all at sea, we are in a Cup Final, a Quarter Final, in a title race and likely in the play offs. Too much to think about!!

I like the change, but then I'm biased because our 1991 win was on my birthday.

Its good news, it will help us having one less cup to worry about when we play our Champion League fixtures in the new year.
