    Hibernian History Day 125

    Season 1999-2000

    The new season started with Malcolm McPherson as the new Chairman having taken over from Tom O’Malley.

    Preston Athletic, which was formed in 1997, got renamed as Hibernian Ladies in 1999; the team was managed by Iain Johnston and was assisted by his brother Paul.

    31st July, Hibs played their first game in the Scottish Premier League against Motherwell, the team that McLeish left to join Hibs, they draw 2-2.

    During the winter break Hibs started the new millennium with a tour of Trinidad and Tobago.

    9th April, Hibs meet Aberdeen in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, despite Russell Latapy opening the scoring; Aberdeen went on to win 2-1, with former Hibs defender Andy Dow scoring the winner.
