Congratulations to Andy Murray, and his wife Kim, on the announcement that they're expecting their first child together, early in the New Year!

    Fantastic news.

William Hill are offering 500/1 for the child to win Wimbledon and 250/1 for it to win any grand slam.

    Might be worth a pound.

You hear about these types of bets being placed from time to time.

Not sure if I would remember where I had placed my betting slip after 20+ years!

I also think the odds should be bigger than that to be honest.

I'm not sure they should be. Consider the amount of people that will really have the opportinity to develop into a top tennis player. A boy who's father is a millionaire tennis champion stands a pretty good chance of making it.

I think one of the most famous was Chris Kirklands dad. He put a bet on his son would win an England cap, when he was about 13 iirc, before he was 30 and netted £10 000 with 5 years to spare. Odds were 100/1.

Rory McIlroys dad bet on him winning a major about 10 years before he did as well.

There was also the guy who bet on Federer to win 7 Wimbledon titles before 2019 way back in 2003. He died before the bet came in so Oxfam got paid out to the tune of £10000.

None of those are quite the same as betting on an unborn baby to win Wimbledon right enough. Anyway congratulations to Andy and his wife, great news for them.

I'm hoping he gets to the semi final of the US Open in New York as I have two court side tickets. Might take a Hibs scarf with me and shout Hibees at break points.

Nobody comes close to being as good as Murray with lob shots, brilliant.

    Brilliant stuff there.

Really hoping Murray can step it up again and really push Djokovic at the US and Australian opens in the coming months.

Djokovic saves three match points but Murray will now serve for the match.
