Andy Murray - 500 wins and counting

Well done to Andy Murray on his 500th career victory yesterday against Kevin Anderson, which took him into the quarter finals of the Miami Masters.

He is the first British player in history to reach the milestone and surpassed Tim Henman's previous record of 496 wins last week in Indian Wells.

He is currently playing Dominic Thiem in the quarter finals in Miami. Thiem took the opening set 6-3 but Murray is in control of the second set as he is 4-1 up.

If he wins here, he'll play the winner of Tomas Berdych v Juan Monaco in the semis.

What is likely to happen to Murray's ranking after this? Can he pass Nadal?

I think he's now assured of moving up to third next week.

Murray up to 3rd. Nadal down to 5th.

What Murray really needs is 'the big 4' in the top 4 places. It's great if he's 3rd but if he still gets Nadal before the semis then it doesn't really help him.

Murray beats Tomas Berdych 6-4 6-4 to reach the Miami Masters final.

He'll play either Novak Djokovic or John Isner on Sunday.

The way things are going for Nadal right now, I would back Murray to beat him on any surface, other than clay. He hasn't been past the quarter finals of any non-clay court tournament since the Miami Masters last year and he looks to be struggling to get back to full fitness.

I would agree with that in general though. Even if he's not at his best, playing Rafael Nadal in the quarter finals of a tournament isn't really ideal.

Murray pushing Djokovic all the way on his serve in the opening game.

Decent start but Djokovic held well.

Murray will be gutted if he loses this first set after breaking Djokovic twice.

    Murray's serving at 5-6.

    What a point that was!

Here comes the traditional Djokovic 'injury'.

Murray takes the second set 6-4.

    Played really well so far.

Poor behaviour from Djokovic at the end of that second set towards that ball boy.

No need to act like that towards someone who's a volunteer, even if you are frustrated.

All over now by the looks of things.

Double break for Djokovic and he leads 3-0 in the final set.

Dialogic is an absolute machine. Murray just doesn't have the same level of consistency.

Murrays body language is really poor here, looks like he's chucked it.
