Three Identical Strangers on Netflix. Fascinating and shocking.
Great. Others on netflix I liked

13th .about disproportionate black men in us prisons
    Icarus . Russian dopping scandal
Fyre . about a failed music festival
Downwall . about climbing, not if you've got vertigo
    Blackfish . about seaworld scandal

Agreed. Slow build up even Stephen Graham couldn't save it last week. Glad this is the last series tbh.

Wonder if they are saving everything for the film?

Tonight was setting up the last 2 episodes and the movie I think.

This season is all over the place. Glad it’s ending.

Yeah maybe, and I could live with that if it didn’t seem so sh**. I feel like they could have even killed them all off this series and still made it decent. This season makes the Russian series 3 seem brilliant!
    It makes EastEnders look brilliant!
I was hoping he would machine gun the lot of them round the table last night. Was Kennedy anything like Nelson?

Oh god, there's a film coming too?

Found last night a little more tolerable, but it's still lost it completely.

Peaky Blinders is just so far up it’s own arse this series.

Basically it’s “I’m Tommy Shelby and I’m cleverer than you” blah blah blah.

    Totally lost its way.

I’m still to watch Sundays, and I’ve come this far that I feel I have to finish it but Christ it’s dull.

Just read there is going to be a second season of Time with a different cast. Can’t see how it could be as good as the first one but will no doubt still be decent.

I liked episode 1 but found last night a lot slower and strange (not one I’d be looking to revisit). I said to my missus that the scene where him and Arthur started paggering folk on the sly at the fascist rally, and then Aida turned up during the scrap and Tommy said “I’ve got business to do” or something was like a computer game with how quickly it happened and the cliche line and just complete bizarreness of it all!… it was good to see Arthur back in action mind you 😁 even though he couldn’t stand-up 2 mins prior due to being doped.

I’m hoping this was just a ‘setup’ episode and things will get back in swing next week.

You can see why this is the last series though.

It hasn’t got any better,a total let down compared to earlier series, bored with it.

Watched Boiling Point on Netflix last night and thought it was superb.

Obviously you know you are getting a masterclass from Stephen Graham but the whole cast is outstanding. I thought the one shot concept might be a bit of a gimmick but it really works in building tension. Sometimes films have scenes that are just a vehicle for the director to show how smart they are, with this if something happens, it happens for a reason.

It's fantastic, and like you say, the one shot thing doesn't feel contrived. I saw it twice in the cinema - the second time with my daughter who worked in restaurants as a student. She thought it was great too, but she had a fairly extreme emotional reaction to it. I've read other people saying the same thing, that it brought out a kind of PTSD response in them. Fair to say it's stressful.

    I get that.

Having worked in hospitality for a few years there is definitely a stark reality about it.

On the brilliance of Stephen Graham, had anyone seen the film in which he plays an alcoholic? I really want to know what it’s called, I’ve only ever seen a clip of it from him when he’s in a pub and it’s just amazing, the way he plays the part.

The scene in the pub and afterwards is some of the best acting I've ever seen. Up there with him playing Combo losing it in the car in This Is England

Halfway through Penny Dreadful - City of Angels, very good so far. Halfway through the final series of The Last Kingdom, one of the better things I've ever watched.

I thought it was very good and Graham is always excellent but that scene with the EHO annoyed me. 25 years in the trade and I never experienced an EHO like that. I found them to always be courteous and eager to help you fix issues that crop up. Small thing but the guys portrayal wound me up
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Talk about a movie to finish The Last Kingdom story?

Half way through "When Nirvana Came To The Uk". Nice Edinburgh connections.

Had to laugh at Jo Whiley claiming that in 1989 music was all formulaic (SAW) and there was nothing alternative and nothing rebellious. ....

    1989?

    Nothing rebellious?

    Sheltered life or what?

Not really my cup of tea but the Mrs likes it so I watched it anyway.

For that type of thing it was actually OK and can see why many are fans of it.

For some reason she got her way again for the next series to watch and that is See on Apple TV. It’s quite clever in how it portrays how a blind human race might still manage to slaughter each other and again not really my bag but watchable enough.

Can’t say I was overly impressed myself - was better than some of the pish we’ve been served-up this season though!

I never thought I’d be glad to see the back of peaky blinders, but I won’t feel duty bound to sit through it on Sunday nights now 😁
