Griffiths NOT coming is a GOOD thing for Hibs. Bullet dodged & WE CAN go up

Missing out on Griffiths last night will turn out to be the sole reason we get promoted. Hibs tried hard to get him in but as it happens it's worked out in our favour.

We are not going to win this league. We were not going to win the league if Griffiths signed on last night (except if he came with decent back up keeper, bear of a centre-half and an animal of a defensive midfielder).

We were never going to sign him permanent. It would have been a loan. It would never have been a season loan. It would have been a 6 month loan.

Leigh would have banged them in and got us to the play offs. No chance the loan would be extended - all they goals and a Celtic recall. In the play-offs with no Griffiths.

Celtic have now signed strikers - Leigh's game time will be limited.

We float about mid-table until January - this time we do get our man, 6 MONTH LOAN TO THE END OF THE SEASON INCLUDING PLAY-OFFS. Mid-table becomes play-off place quickly once the Griffiths goal machine hits top gear. FARID comes back from his injury come February/March.

We finish 3rd/4th - 20 points behind one of the cheats in second.... but crucially we go into the play-offs with Griffiths and El Alagui as our strikers and Kennedy & Sinclair (what a revelation Sinclair turns out to be) providing width. Scott Allen & Dylan McGeougoehes (sp) are in full flow in the middle.

We take promotion through the play-offs.

    Alan Stubbs hailed

    Dempster lauded

    Petrie knighted

MacGruber drowned in a pool of water accused of witchcraft for having forseen future events so accurate.

    ....

Sorry guys - best I can do for now.

Just incase the lack of smiley's doesn't make it clear the tongue in cheek light hearted humour I'll add a few

Of course - missing out on Griffiths is a disaster. No forward is a disaster. This team is a disaster. This window is a disaster.

We are only left with humour, intravenous or nasal - mine is all three this morning.

So that's why we just added a couple of loans to a threadbare squad and haven't bothered replacing Farid at all. We obviously have plenty cover in key positions as our laid back attitude to the loss of Farid shows.

All looking good then, continuing the loan / swap theme, presumably we are going to just swap squads with someone like Dundee Utd next window to help us stave off relegation?

    Keep taking the tablets

Gallows humour is good...except I don't think it ever saved anyone from the drop!

And the Original Post might be close to the line taken by our board...EXCEPT for the part about signing Griffiths in January. If we were even close to a playoff spot they would consider it a job well done.

However, which playoff are they thinking of?

i would agree that this is the most likely scenario. I also see us as not really taking too much of an interest in this daft wee league till around Christmas.
