Amsterdam Restaurant & Bar

Currently in Amsterdam with the missus looking for a decent Restaurant/Bar for tonight's dinner. Everywhere seems mobbed, any good ideas?

As that was 3 hours ago, I'm guessing you've given up waiting on a response!


It's not much help but one I remember was a brilliant steak house... Come out station walk straight ahead about 100 yards then on right was a wee lane... Away along there on the left was what I'd call steak heaven... Don't know name and probably couldn't find it again but it was the best steak I have ever, ever had.


And apologies, that still doesn't help, might be worth asking for directions from a local... I do seem to remember there was one of those weird external urinals that are in full view of passers by at the far end of the street. :-/

Had fantastic steak in the grasshopper, which sounds from alf's description above like it could be same place. It was a good few years ago mind, but was near train station and Dam square. The restaurant was upstairs and the herbal coffee shop was on the ground floor.
Come to think of it, it's about time I went back! :-)

Most of the Argentinian Steakhouses around Amsterdam are superb.
