    Vernon

    Hat trick tonight. Always liked him as a striker. Always seemed to cause us problems. Wouldn't mind him getting a chance with us. Think he would be a good signing

    I would not advocate Vernon as a signing - he is better than what we have but he is at best a 12 -14 goal a season striker. We need someone who will hit 18-20. I would guess most of Vernon's appearances have been off the bench this season whereas James Collins have mainly been starts. Add a hat trick in the cup to Vernon's total and you don't have a bad record at all for a second choice striker.

    I'm not suggesting we sign him but he has scored 9 goals in 33 appearances - 13 starts & 20 sub appearances
