He started his career as a striker.
He's just scored for the Under 20s tonight.
Collins and Hayes can't score to save their lives.
Up front with Cummings on Sunday. Why not?

He should start on Sunday
A 50% match fit McPake is better than a 100% match "fit" Nelson

Did he last the whole game ? I think we should start him if hes fit . Get a bit of passion in defence and I agree nelson is absolute piss .
On a totally different note . How fit is the female chelsea physio !!!! Think we need to look into signing her even just to cheer the crowd up during injury breaks in game ............

By all accounts (and by all accounts, I mean Sean Murdochs twitter account), we have a decent up and coming looker of a physio. Like the rest of the u20's, she needs a call up!

Nelson has a better positional sense IMO. It's his distribution that is very poor. McPake ball watches a lot and if you watch the other CB has to cover for him.
I like James though and right now I'd play him even if he was on crutches.

I'd take a 50% fit JMcP over a 100% fit Nelson any day
A one legged McPake would be quicker and have better distribution than Nelson too

Did he not also score an own goal tonight?
Would welcome him back over Nelson but only if he's 100% ready.

Your posts are normally quite sensible too!

I'm with Scouse hibee.
However after watching Forster's lack of effort for St. mirren's goals has me willing to try anything.
Maybe not against Hearts though. McPake has habit of gifting them goals.

Second touch is a tackle. I think half the 'wonder' challenges he put in during loan spell came about from his lack of positional discipline. Whilst Nelson has no pace whatsoever and loves a good hoof, I'd say he's the lesser of two evils here.

He's a leader and I hope he's back soon, we are badly lacking a captain.

[QUOTE=Judas Iscariot;3980290]Aye? No too short to remember how rank rotten Nelson is and has been since he arrived..

Always interesting to see how attitudes towards McPake fluctuate on here, especially around derbies. When he made the statement that we would never lie down to Hearts again after the first derby at ER in 2012-13, everyone was lapping it up.
A few months later, I remember being absolutely devastated when he was out injured for the 2013 Scottish cup 4th round against them at ER. As it turns out, Hanlon and McGivern did just fine, and we went through.
Fast forward to late last year, and the League Cup quarter final, and one of the most depressing moments in my Hibs supporting life - quite a statement I know. The absolute dogs abuse and horrendous insults that were fired at our club captain (someone whose signing was apparently the deciding factor in many buying their 2012-13 season tickets), was absolutely disgusting - yes he was at fault for the goal and got sent off, but no one deserved what he got, least of all a player who always made it clear just how much being Hibs captain meant to him.
And here we are again, with some wanting him brought straight back in. There's no doubt that a fully fit McPake can be a hugely positive influence on a team, we have seen it before in a team that was as much of a basket case as this one. Regardless, even fully fit he is still fallible, and given how fragile we are as a club at the moment, I think it's too big a risk.
It would be nice if walking off to that tirade of abuse that he suffered last year wasn't his last experience of Easter Road though.

I don't know why but im a massive fan of James mcpake and would love to see him in a hibs shirt before the end of the season.
