    The Stadium on Google Earth

I've just had a look at Edinburgh on Google Earth for the first time in ages, to find that large parts of the city are now rendered in glorious 3D....as long as you don't get in too close

Major disappointment however, when you get to Easter Road. Some A-hole has forgotten to put the East Stand in 3D, so it only looks as if we've got 3 stands and an oblong of flat concrete where the East should be. The stand has been there for over 3 years now, and you can see it in 'Street View', so it looks as if someone has made a complete erse of the rendering.

Got the Auld East on normal and the new East on street view.

Hibs must really open the gates and let Google up the Hibernian Way next time they visit. I'm sure the plaques would look fantastic.

For any yams looking in. Fill your boots with a before and after of a stadium that was better than the asbestoskillerdome and got even better.

I use Sketchup all the time (although these are rendered by another programme)

    Scene 5.jpg vue 8 copie.jpg.

but no way I'm going to pan in my spare time doing more of it.

Anyway, somebody's already had a got at it here - pity it's missing the steelwork.

Sketchup was sold by Google and is now "Trimble Sketchup", however you can still upload your models to Google Earth.

Those images are pretty decent Peevemor....You sure you don't want to have a go? Finish the stadium and present it in its full glory? You have the talent...why not use it for the benefit of the Hibernian Community? Go on! You know you want to

Fill in the corners and put a helipad on the roof - let's show the Gorgie Stealers what a £51m superstand looks like.

Pretty sure the current stadium including the new East Stand was modelled and rendered on Google Earth fairly recently.
Why that model is no longer on Google Earth escapes me.
    Very strange!

Sketchup is also really easy to learn/use. I've seen a 12 year old kid build a model of their own home complete with interior spaces including a fitted kitchen. The problem with Easter Road would be gathering the dimensions, don't you think?

The Planning and Building Warrant drawings for the East should stilll be on the Council website.

Funnily enough, Bing Maps has a simliar problem. If you look at the stadium in Aerial View, it has the new East but if you look at it in Birdseye view, it has the old East.

Maybe a petition is in order...
